Hi Paul, another walk - you're spoiling us - love the fly through at the end - makes us appreciate the length of the walk. Great to see you out again.

Excellent.. and that virtual mapping at the end is really interesting and certainly gives a flavour of the farmland around the route and thus limited water opportunities. Cheer Paul.

Thanks for another walk! For me it's the second best thing to being out there myself 😁 Never heard of the Ridgeway before and I will put it on the list of walks I should be able to do with my wife 😬 👍

Up until a couple of months ago I hadn't heard of the ridgeway myself.

I was lucky to have dry weather because in places the ground would have been very muddy if it had been raining.

Nice to see you down this end. I’m based in Dunstable and love the ivinghoe end of the walk. Just walking the icknield way myself which is the 3rd part of the greater ridgeway

Nice one that's exactly what i did on the Yorkshire wolds way with the sheep troff i undid the blue pipe from the black valve and got a good flow i filtered it and the water was clear i reckon they use springs or farm water i think the water is ok because you wouldn't give your animals dodgy water looks like a nice walk i think i will try to do it next year 🏕🌅

Yes its a great trail but finding water is a bit of fun in places.

Hi Paul. Have you started the Ridgeway from Pewsey Train Station? Or from Avebury? Cheers!
@PaulWillcocks2 жыл бұрын
From Swindon train station I got a taxi to the start of The Ridgeway which is near to Avebury.

I remember walking past that camping spot last September I had blue skies when I started too
@PaulWillcocks4 жыл бұрын
Yes its a nice camp spot but quite popular with the locals. I had dog walkers, cyclists and some people in a land rover that came to watch the sun setting. It wasn't until 10pm that I was on my own.

Hi Paul - water isn't a challenge. There are taps along the way, you just need to know where they are
@PaulWillcocks5 ай бұрын
sorry for the slow reply. I tried to find as much information as possible before I started as to the whereabouts of any water sources but I didn't find much. That's why I tried to show where I found water.

Great series , loved it ..i've just bought the Os maps after seeing this..... question though....i can only save my route as a .GPX file.. how do you save it as a video file ,? , also my fly though appears foggy , how to rid myself of this ?
@PaulWillcocks Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment but I'm a little confused by your questions, I will try to answer anyway. When you download a file for the OS app it will be a .GPX file. My map fly though section of this video was recorded on my computer and I think to stop the foggy look it could be either your internet connection speed or the graphics rendering power of your computer that is lacking. Hope this helps.

@@PaulWillcocks thanks muchly for the reply Paul , just can’t figure out how to record the fly through as a video file .. my laptop is a top end gaming machine .
@PaulWillcocks Жыл бұрын
@@ThirdDegreeWitchExplores OK now I understand your question. If your laptop is powered with an Nvidia Geforce GPU then you can use their software to record the fly though

If you wish to know if water is off the mains just put your finger over the tap and see if you can stop it .if it’s off the main s you will not be able to stop it
