Bastille's Pompeii actually makes sense because they are singing about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, it's a conversation between two people that were there.... something like that.
@maisymallory625310 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought Bastille's Pompeii made perfect sense. The whole story of Mount Vesuvius is used as a metaphor for not learning from your mistakes, and making the same mistakes again, and then choosing how to move on from there. Pompeii was built at the base of a volcano which the people knew was dangerous because it had erupted before but they did it anyways. Beginning with the rubble or their sins is a question of if they should rebuild and do the whole process over, or get to the root of the problem and change something.

Doesn't discernment tell you that those people are of the world and there music is as well? "Christians be like" I only listen to the songs because of the beat. Oh the same beat that was originally made with satanic lyrics to glorify Satan ? I didn't understand at first but, now I see. Why listen to a beat of a song that was originally made for satanic purposes. Christians don't take spiritual warfare strong enough, they will listen to a song that talks about sex From Time To time, Then Wonder Why They Have Trouble fornicating. The battle is spiritual and we can't see everything that is going on, that's why we should TRY to remain clear from things that are not of God, even if it seems pleasant.

This was funny, but you took the Bastille lyric out of context. The song takes place after the destruction of a city (or metaphorically a relationship), so the persona suggesting that, should you "close your eyes" (metaphorically close off your mind, or literally turn your eyes away from the destruction), "does it feel like nothing changed at all" - that everything was still as it was before everything went badly. So, yeah, it does make sense if you read/listen to it in the context of the rest of the song and the scenario it is describing. I love your channel, though, and have found the teaching and relationship videos very helpful :)

If you were in a room with no roof, as odd as it is, there is an amount of open-ness and freedom. He means that you feel open and free because you're happy. Something like that.

For the song "Happy", the verse "Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof" is a metaphor for when you're so happy that you can't contain it, like a roof contain the room/house, but a house without a roof can't be contained, the happiness have to be shared or something like that.

For the line "when you close your eyes does it almost feel like nothing's changed at all" the first time I heard that line, I took a step back for what it made me think, not that anything around me, in the room or even in the house had really changed all that much when I closed my eyes. But my mind went to what I didn't see even when my eyes were open, the lives in the house around, the relationships the connections the dynamics of everything in this seemingly complex world God gave us. As well as how when you close your eyes, and fall asleep and wake up the next morning, doesn't feel like anything's changed,though you don't know what went on while you were asleep.

Hey! In the song happy I believe the room with no roof is symbolizing the person as the home and the roof almost like the thing holding them back almost like a seal, so when he says a room with out a room he is stating how he feels free nothing is holding him down, open and real. I love this video, you never realize how crazy some lyrics are until you actually read or listen to them. I think the "room without a roof" line is referring to being free, and having complete freedom to be happy and express yourself. A room with a roof is almost trapped and nothing can escape but a room without a roof gives way for freedom, and expression of happiness. Weird Metaphor! Love your videos!

When I heard Happy. I thought a "room without a roof" meant you're taking in life as it comes. A room without a roof gets a lot of sunshine... but i guess gets a lot of rain too. Maybe it means there is no ceiling to your happiness.

"Room without a roof" you're so happy that you feel you have no limits or boundaries as to be "trapped" in a room with a roof
@izzycohen98 жыл бұрын
So regarding your question about "Happy", when you think about the actual layout of a room, you have four walls, a floor and a ceiling, right? Okay, but if you want to go up, the ceiling keeps you from going up or looking up. When you're clapping along if you feel like a room without a roof, you have nothing holding you back. You're going up (or forward), going after what you want, doing what you want. Nothing and nobody can stop you.

"A room with out a roof" means that you feel on top of the world and that nothing can stop you for example the roof over your head. Bastilles lyrics are very poetic and the natural disaster of Pompeii is being compared to a situation in life that is very chaotic, hoping that if he closes his eyes and doesn't have to see what is going on in front of him, it is for him, as if nothing changed.

The lyric, "I feel like a room without a roof", I think that's a way of saying he (Pharell) doesn't feel constricted or pressured in anyway, and feels free, which goes along with him being happy.
@YouAreLovelie10 жыл бұрын
Lol in the song Pompeii, that line means that even if he expected to feel sad or empty "when the walls kept tumbling down, in the city that we loved" he could close his eyes and not feel any different. He's talking both about Pompeii and indirectly about his life.
@davidbyres673810 жыл бұрын
The reason they say that in the song Pompeii is because they wrote the song based on what someone might have thought when Pompeii was destroyed. So closing your eyes might refer to the fact that you can no longer see the destruction and therefore it feels as though nothing has changed.

I love it Justin! I have been a fan of your videos for a long time and I have actually wanted to make one speaking on the lyrics of modern day mainstream music and how insane it is that people are actually listening to it... but they can't be listening to it... not really ... right... its like a switch that once you turn on ... you can never turn off again...lyrics are a combination of words generally if not always are used in combination to convey a message, statement, question, opinion... something that makes since and that we as the listeners can attempt to interpret the message or messages the artist is trying to get across... but these songs now a days dont talk about nething even relative or in the least bit significant. At the same time this is becoming the back ground noise for most young people and its like it is just wearing down on there intellect and creativity. One of my absolute favorite musicians is Hopsin, this is because his lyrics are loaded with significant ideas and points that are real, tru, and relevant. In one song called "whats my purpose" he says the following lyric... or raps it... or whatever... - How can a man with power feel there's no responsibility? These rappers blowing up but through my eyes their not as real to me. they constantly conceal the beast and never try to heal the streets, teaching girls to be a slut but never make them feel unique, how can we feel fine this way? open up your minds today, the matrix got you sprung, workin off a debt you'll spend your life to pay" ... and so on and so forth. TRUTH is TRUTH... point blank .

I had a very big discussion with my best friend and his siblings about the line from the Happy song, "clap along if you feel like a room without a roof". I believe that it means that there are no limits to your happiness; nothing is going to hold you back from being happy. My friend argued that we, as humans, cannot fly, therefore the lack of roof would not hold us down. I still stand by my answer, however, because I think that the lyrics are more figurative than literal, as are most song lyrics.

@SpraklyKiraKira6 жыл бұрын
In the English sentence structure, the subject is of what/whom the sentence is made. Meaning they are the essence of the sentence (dominating the sentence). An object is something/someone that is acted upon the subject. So, that being said, he meant women are not just someone you can just act upon with you being the "essence" (read: selfishly). I hope I explain it well enough. God bless!

Explaination of Pharrell Williams lyric "Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof" A roof, which can be thought about as a “ceiling”, is the highest point in the house, the limit. “Without a roof” symbolizes that there is no barrier, and that is to show how limitless his happiness is. The sun shines happiness and the roof blocks the sun so if there was no roof everyone would be happy.

Im a christian but am a little disappointed that there are so many comments saying this is satans music. ( i really hope you all who said that are joking ) I dont really listen to a lot of this kind of music anyways and i dont really like the lyrics because they have no depth. But just because there is music not about God, it doesnt make it satans music, because people wrote it and it sounds like your calling them satan for writing the lyrics they write. Jesus doesnt condemn them then as christians we shouldnt either so stop calling it satans music because it insults the artist. And in a way could insult God.

Hi, I didn't write any of the previous comments that you are speaking of, nor have I read them. However, a lot of the songs on the radio the artists are singing lyrics glamourizing things that God hates. It's brainwashing people. The artists themselves aren't necessarily satanists and even if they were God still loves them just like me and you. However I don't believe he likes it when people are singing about their sins and making it more socially acceptable "I cant feel my face when I'm with you" "lets get drunk and fight" I feel it grieves the Holy Ghost. But God is merciful and we shouldn't condemn others. I've done a lot of major sin in my life that could have killed me and hurt others and God forgave me and spared my life countless times and I just want more than anything to be with him forever and ever and be his child

I actually liked that verse where if you close your eyes and it feels like nothing changes. I think he mean even in the dark he can see as if his eyes weren't closed

Ph areal ' s happy makes perfect sense because it's a metaphor for how an individual feels. It's like saying I'm feeling like a million bucks. He's saying because I am happy, u can clap along if u feel like no limitation. This is because a room without a roof is is a template for more rooms to be added on top of it to create more rooms, or it has nothing on it at all which leaves am inhibited space where the sky is the limit.

Totally agree as a mom of 4 kids it's hard to keep the radio station on a Christian station they all want to listen to diffrent music, and I found the only music that I can trust for their ears is setting every button to a christian station. Thanks for the videos I'm a new Jefferson fan and think your such a blessing to the Internet Web.. God bless

At the "final ceremony" of secondary school my class wanted to play "Highway to hell". At the end I was the only one who sat in the audience while my whole class danced on stage. All in all i think it was the right decision, and i didn't miss anything. (At the moment it was hard for me, because some friends, who are christians took part of it, and they didn't overthink that at all)
