If you open cabinet there is a little noise where water enters sump but, no noise when cabinets closed. I have in my living room. I added a 6x6 and two basements jacks below… my discus getting upgrade from the 75

Have been running the Tidal-55 on my 29g planted tank for years. Love it. Works well. Edit: I wish seachem would change that blue dial to black. such an eyesore. I do have it turned down and moved to one side to give my Angel spaces to rest. He's near 8yrs and happy. I run the Tidal towards the left side of the tank, and the sponge on the right. My hillstreams love that thing. breeding like crazy for me. About to go to a 50 to 60 gallon tank, and deciding filters now. Inclined to go with a Tidal 75, but considering a canister. on the fence about it atm.

My favorite size aquarium is a 10gal. Minimal effort, and I only like keeping 1 fish per tank. So like Bettas, dwarf gouramis etc. Still needs weekly maintenance, but it's easier to keep than a 20, and less maintenance than a 5gal

Go with a central filter system for a bank of tanks (sand with U.V. and Ozone along with auto water changing systems). A good medium size rapid sand filter with a variable motor will be able to handle around 5 k gallons of water.

I have a 75 gallon with 3 electric blue acaras and a gold severum and had 2 tidal HOB. As my severum grew it was harder and harder to keep the tank clean. I finally decided to bite the bullet and bought a canister filter and it was the best purchase I've made for my tank.

Made a mod to my aquaclear 110 by putting a bulkhead in place of the motor and plumbed my marineland c530 into it on my 125 gallon tank so I get the surface benefit of the HOB while getting the efficiency of the canister filter.

I love that you reiterated that if what one has is working it is the best filter in the world 😊There are soooo many choices for filtration and let's face it, lots of us fishkeepers have FOMO (🤣) and want to try the latest and greatest. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your tank life is happy and balanced, hell to the yeah!! Leave it be. And, let's face it, not everyone has the means to try every new product, no matter how much they want to. Again, if it ain't broke... I love your content (and Carl) so much....😁

I got the FX2 for my 55 gallon tank and it's just perfect, it was pricey but setting it up was a dream and the flow is just right, a gentle breeze that doesn't blow plants and fish around. Just wish it was a bit quieter, it isn't as silent as the Eheim canisters.

@@AgxntAqua The outtake has two outlets for two directions, depending on how many fish and what kind of fish I think the FX2 would do just fine, the flow breezes through your plants gently without bending them forward and fish seem to to enjoy the gentle flow.

heavy planted low stock 63 gallon doesn't need a filter just a bubbler for water movement. however it does have a sponge hidden away seeding in case i need to set up an emergency tank . the 95 US gallon African Cichlid tank however has a Fluval 407 and a tidal 55 running and between them hey do a decent job (sizes may look a bit odd to you that is because i'am UK based and have converted Imperial gallons to US gallons )

I have a heavily planted 75G that's pretty lightly stocked (I think). 6 angels and 15 red eye tetras. I'm still adding stock so it'll get a little heavier but not much. I really wanted to do a Tidal 75 but the acrylic cut outs wouldn't fit it or any other HOB with an in water motor. We have a lot of power outages where I live so I ended up with an FX2. Very happy with the decision. I get good flow through the tank but there's not much heavy current so the angels are fine anywhere other than right in front of the outlet

Let's talk filtration. On my 210, which wont even make the top five larges tanks in your fish house, I have the following. • Three (3) Power filters/HOB • Three (3) Canisters • One (1) Lg Sponge filter • One (1) Wave Maker - Which I know isnt a filter, but it helps move the debris out of the dead spots so the filters can pick it up. Needless to say, it's exceptionally blowy in there and nobody minds. Not even the Angelfish.

So I have a fluval 107 in a 10 Gallon Betta and Amano Shrimp tank. Without Modification, that current is definitely too strong. I picked up the fluval spray bar kit too, used 1 bar and pulled the cap out of it so it's a flow thru and the spray holes add even more flow reduction. On the end of the spray bar I put on a coarse Sponge prefilter and that diffuses the flow Extremely well. The 107 is on full flow and my current is just enough for the stem plants in the back to flutter their leaves down the back wall where the spray bar holes are aimed. The Shrimp have zero problems and seem to be loving their Home. I haven't bought the Betta yet, but after dropping in some Accu Clear and watching the current of the water as it spreads. it's a very slow flow in the tank. ( yes, this filter is completely OVERKILL for a 10g betta tank. BUUUUT I will eventually upgrade to a 20 gallon and this filter will be there for it)

@@GOwBorgs I didn't even think of drilling out the holes, great suggestion. I might give that a try with the other bar, then I can remove the prefilter sponge from the end. but that filter is just MORE media for the bateria to grow on, and the shrimp have been feeding on it too.
