Dude, that was so smooth and simple! 😦 Great job! Various painter knives sets number their tools differently, so your no.4 may not be the same as the no.4 in a different set. But, since you've shown the tool in the video, it's a moot point.I'd also wrap a bit of shrink tubing around the bend of the second tool, in order to protect smaller components and the board from getting scratched.

I used this exact video to delid my system correctly thank you so much A tip for everyone else. Heat up the IHS for 30second to a minute at 200°C Take your time ! It would glide like butter
@elmerandrewcrowley2822
@elmerandrewcrowley2822 Жыл бұрын
really don't know if you want to be doing that. heating up the heat spreader will heat up the CPU underneath causing it undue stress when they aren't very good with heat already.
@HeavyBreathingGamerXD
@HeavyBreathingGamerXD Жыл бұрын
@@elmerandrewcrowley2822 don’t think 30 seconds will do much tbh Always be careful tho
@elmerandrewcrowley2822
@elmerandrewcrowley2822 Жыл бұрын
@@HeavyBreathingGamerXD how long isn't relevant, the thing that damages these CPUs is the repeated change in temperature, not the level of the temperature. over time they get stress fractures from it. yes I know it is only one time but the whole point of delidding is to prolong the life of the CPU, which you arent doing if you're causing more stress fractures.
@HeavyBreathingGamerXD
@HeavyBreathingGamerXD Жыл бұрын
@@elmerandrewcrowley2822 you are correct but delidding with out a little heat can cause cracks in the solder as well. The whole thing is dangerous and a risk. Either way you can mess up. I’ve done plenty of successful delids with a little heat. With out a little heat that glue is super hard to cut and using more pressure would crack the solder or a slip of the hand will scratch the chip. Again this whole process is a risk just use caution

2:18 I wouldn't be so "calm" in that part. I saw people that damaged the CELL by making so much pressure upwards, the silicone glue literally deattached the PCB, but with a part of the PCB it self.. The best option would be to avoid those capacitors by any means. You can start then in the opposite corner.

That's a CECH-2000 series PS3 slim, right? The one which still has the 65nm gpu? Do you know if the IHS is already sort of glued on on the RSX of these? I'll probably have to delid both the cpu and gpu on mine because the fan is ramping up really hard, but I'm sort of wary because I already killed two PS3 fats when trying to delid in the past...
