I have watched dozens of drifting videos and not one have given that tip to hit on the thick/ in contact side of the eye. Thanks for all the tips and tricks.

The Massey truly is a thing of beauty. You should make sure when you're using a striker they dress all in blue and wear googly eyes when working with you!

Oh, man! I really dig the round punch. I've had a couple issues with alignment on slitting, and the round punch knocked back to oval is a great way to start.

Great explanation of the drifts several functions. It indeed is an internal anvil or die. Wish I could show you in person a different internal die I use when pulling the cheeks out. It allows me to pull the cheeks both directions, then it's followed up with a regular drift to get the hourglass shàpe. Used with the power hammer it greatly sped up my production time. I don't do videos or I'd send one Along to you.

good video. It's great to hear things like "I panicked a bit". Not everything goes to plan, and some corrections need to be made. It's best to show that too.

Surprised to hear from ya dude. Thanks for the comment. You might not like one of my up and coming videos but I would like it if you could watch it and give me your feed back. The videos is about someone else video and about forging techniques.

Thanks Dan! I dont own a massy, neither i have or worked with a striker. So forging a hammer, by hand and hammer takes time and awerenes. The pinching you explained i had That with my latest hammer project. Learned much today. The aha moment i got that is that im gonna modify my drift. I made it from the biggest Alankey i have ever seen. Made it a bit to long (easy for holding) but to long for the anvil and Hardy. I take a Flapdisc at some on the corners. Greet video. I made mistakes, with the steps or the lack of it. Aswsome video. Awsome massy and bad ass striker and smithing work. A video without talking and teaching, only the (work) flow of you and your striker, working in sync and harmonie. Would be Nice to see! With Respect Luuk

Loved the video but it brings me to a beginner tooling question: I currently have a small ASO with no hardy hole and no striker (my 12yo son is keen but not yet strong enough except for smaller jobs). Daniel, any suggestions on a set up for fullering a hammer without a hardy hole-mounted tool, a power hammer or a striker? Is it possible?
@foggy7595 Жыл бұрын
Doubt my reply is of much help now, but you can mount hardy tools in a stump.

Great video. I really like your running commentary at each step progresses. However, when you talk at the same time as hammering, it is really difficult for me to hear / understand the words. Maybe move the mic a bit farther away from the anvil or add a voice over in post production. I say this because I don't want to miss any tidbits of the commentary. KBO!

An interesting video utterly spoilt with music! The sounds in the workshop and your commentary are all we need. To me, the music makes you unsubworthy because your videos are not true to the workshop! Anyway, I enjoyed the good bits becacue I was able skip the bad.

@@danielmoss2089 Hi Daniel, I appreciate your swift reply young man. Maybe I am just a grumpy old fashioned bloke from up north but I want to hear the tone of the hammer strikes because it may help judge the strike force you use, same with the power hammer and to a dgree the forge. I am going to build (at some point ) a small forge grate (I did one years ago and sold it) so I can get back into a bit of amateur blacksmithying and it may help with my work on famrs? All the best and thanks for taking the time to share your skills! Top regards, Jon.
