I'm so grateful for your positive reaction. So many people turned on this show before they even saw it, and just because it isn't perfect they decide to despise it. I wish people would remember that Galadriel's entire arc is set up around the idea of touching the darkness, and it seems that's the only way she can recognize the truth for herself.

Exactly people were expecting too much too soon they’re wanting to see the rings get made and used Sauron making the one ring the wraiths becoming a thing and Sauron fighting with the one ring but you have to remember this is a huge world so that takes a while remember that Mordor doesn’t exist yet so the rings are no where near ready to appear the show is so far green lit for 5 seasons if that’s the total amount of seasons we’re getting we’re not gonna see the rings created until at least season 3 at some point then the one ring probably at the end of season 3 to lead into season 4

There is so much about this show that's spectacularly done. There is the gorgeous cinematography and costume design and it's definitely giving me that LOTR vibe. I thought the use of the map to keep us oriented was a smart move. I thought the dialogue was well done. There's enough of a mystery about the story that I'm intrigued. I think what's got me still feeling reserved is the fact that despite how brilliant the LOTR movie trilogy was, even that let me down VERY hard in a couple of different ways. (Ways that may have only been important to me and my personal relationship with the books.) I feel like this is a new guy coming on strong trying to win me over, but I was hurt by the last one so I've got some walls built up. But new guy has some substance. He's not just pretty. I'll give him a chance.

The exchange of the key happened when Adar heard the Numenorians galloping towards the people's keep. He came out and told Waldreg he had "a task for him". So basically Galadriel was chasing Adar who had an 🪓 on him 😆 Huge mistake for not checking to make sure it was the key! I guess Adar relied on them being arrogant and short sighted. I'm convinced Galadriel has a "that's the moment she knew she fucked up" moment when she sees Mount Doom form. She has a tendency to blame herself and take all the weight on herself. So the guilt must be massive and will probably cause an internal reset for her. For all of them. I think when Adar was captured he was totally relying on their stupidity and inability to see the bigger picture. He was totally studying them. Incredible strategist.

ROP is indeed visually spectacular. The bullying soured this for me right away. Just, for the love of all that is good and holy....why? What a trite mischaracterization of both Galadriel and High Elves, as well as the Blessed Realm during the Years of the Trees. If Elven children were just as toxic as modern human kids, what would be the point of Tolkien contrasting his version of paradise against the mundane world? And who would have dared to bully a daughter of the House of Finwë? Imagine making ritual murder a rite of passage in the Jedi Temple. It's just forcing something uncharacteristic onto the Elves. That scene alone goes against everything Tolkien's High Elves, and Valinor, stood for.
@easyislander2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Elves aren't these types of creatures. Humans are. The show made Elves much like humans which isn't Tolkien like.
@JBWinter2 жыл бұрын
A running theme of Tolkien's works is that Elves are MORE. Which means yes, their flaws are even worse as well (*cough*House of Feanor*cough*) They're not all noble; Elves have their own murders, liars, thieves, and general jerks
@Ψυχήμίασμα2 жыл бұрын
@@JBWinter No, that is not a theme at all in Tolkien's work. Where did Tolkien say Elves are worse than Men? They are not all noble, but the High Elves living in Eldamar before the darkening of the Trees bullying each other as children did not happen. Tolkien was clear only bliss existed in paradise in those times. They do not have their own murders, liars or thieves. There were only a sum total of 3 historical events where Elves killed Elves, in all the Ages of the world. There are no murderers as a normal occurrence in Elf-kind, unlike with humankind. Fëanor's Oath was the Original Sin of the Elves, and exceptional, being really only within the Noldor. The Vanyar and Teleri were spared from that Sin. Fëanor was not a villain, but rather a Classical Tragic Hero, who cause great tragedy due to his own character flaws. But he was not evil.

This first episode was completely devoid of everything. It jumped around with seemingly no story being told, the action scenes were so weird, galadriel is already an annoying character, and the fact that they can ONLY use the appendices as their foundational source is like trying to build the empire state building on a crumbling foundation. The second episode was slightly better, but House of the Dragon costs 1/3 of what LOTR did and its 10x better.
