If you didn’t notice, the cave Sauron’s blood/essence ends up, changes drastically after the fade. The cave is bare and then fades to having huge stalagmites everywhere, conveying a vast passing of time.

Why was Sauron there at all? He accomplished absolutely nothing. Since he WAS there, why didn't he just kill Adar. He is fg Sauron. Why didn't Adar ask "king of the southland" how he knew anything about Sauron. Why would Adar let "king of the southland" go, with no way to control him?

@@GrooveBot766 I mean exactly what I said. The question is whether the 3 elven rings are tainted by sauron's influence. That is by far the biggest issue in this episode. Elrond convinces Cirdan that they are. Cirdan says the rings can be destroyed by tossing them into the ocean depths, so he takes off in a rowboat (?) and presumable rows to the middle of the fg ocean (?). But just as he gets ready to toss the rings into the ocean, a little wave ripples, which for SOME UNKNOWN REASON causes Cirdan to completely change his mind 180% about the rings. Do we get to see that? Oh hell no. Cut away back to the mod squad. Terrible writing and waste of whatever acting skills Mr. Vickers might have.

uh they dont just cut after the wave hits, the wave hits the boat he drops the bag and gets a glance of the rings, picks the bag up and looks inside at the rings and they literally show his face looking right at them, then later it cuts to him showing up with the ring on so its implied the perfection of the rings changed his mind after he inspected them even more. a few scenes ago they even made the point to have him not look at them and just trust the elf guy. and also there was obviously a sail on the boat there is a whole shot of him sailing. and I dont think we're supposed to know definitively if the rings are corrupted yet there is still a whole season to answer that.

As usual, the show TELLS us and doesn't SHOW us, because it is really bad writing. That would have been a perfect opportunity to let that actor shine, but they didn't. As a result, the entire portrayal of Cirdan was boring and pointless.

Eregion (Celebrimbor) is about half way between Lindon (Gil Galad) and Mordor. There is indeed a bit of teleportation going on. But Sauron making that journey faster than other people is not a massive stretch at all. Sauron in the books quite famously doesn't sleep. Doesn't even close his eyes or blink, in fact. Words like "sleepless", or the "lidless eye", are some of the most common descriptors for him. That would give quite some advantage travelling a large distance quickly, although his horse likely needs sleep. But actual book Sauron could turn into a bat and fly the distance then turn into a man when he gets there, and grab a horse from somewhere to keep up appearances. He's a very capable shapeshifter. But they haven't shown or explained any of that here, so you're right to ask the question.

The whole show is leading towards the Akallabêth. The Akallabêth is the second to last chapter of the Silmarillion. It's about the fall of Númenor. And this story is really great. Because Tolkien discribes the great villain of the first thirty chapters of the Silmarillion, Morgoth Bauglir, the first Dark Lord, as such a brutal and powerful... force of evil. Almost as Satan, the devi himself. But Sauron, the second Dark Lord acts differently. He is a deceiver. A strategist. A lyer and puppet master. In the first, when he's just the first lieutenant to Morgoth, Sauron uses magic and his shape shifting win. But he's never fighting fair. That's his main charaktristic. Therefore, it is such a great twist in the Silmarillion, when he takes over and becomes the next Dark Lord, of the second and of the third age. And I freaking loved the Akallabêth. The chapter at the end of the Silmarillion, when the new Dark Lord uses his wiz - instead of pure violence and power - to defeat and destroy Númenor. And to change the world, forever. It is such a great read. And I remember when I red it first, many years ago. I just thaught to myself: they really gotta make a movie out of this. And now, more then 20 years later, Amazon brings out the show. As someone who is familiar with Tolkien's writings... I love it! Because I know where all the lose stroy lines will lead to. So, buckle up, grab our popcorn and enjoy the ride. Because the shit will hit the fan, when Sauron comes back to Númenor... I can ensure you that 😉

HOTD season 2 is nothing compared to TROP. HOTD dialogues are so boring. Without dragons, HOTD season 2 is nothing. 😂 Those 3 episodes of TROP were amazing to me. This flashback takes place 3,000 years before the events of season 1. Morgoth's orcs were more powerful than the orcs with whom Adar reached the Southlands, i.e. Mordor. After all, they had to hide constantly to live in darkness and fight for survival with people, elves and dwarves. Their history is dark. Sauron, meanwhile, was liquid blood that devoured vermin, bats, rats and mice. To recreate physical form. I'm not surprised he's pissed off and wants revenge.

the idea of orcs killing sauron is laughable. Sauron wouldn't make speeches to them either, or want them to crown him. They were slaves. Sauron could have easily killed all of them.

Maybe he was hurt when the Valar defeated Morgoth and his hordes of monsters. Besides, the Orcs were slaves and creatures of Morgoth, not Sauron. He was much more powerful than them, but that doesn't mean he ruled over all of them. He created werewolves and collaborated with the vampires that Morgoth created. Maybe he needed to master the control of the Orcs. Besides, Sauron was destroyed when Eru sank Númenor for the humans' attack on Valinor and later needed time to regain his physical form. In the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, he was seriously wounded by the high elven king Gil Galad and by King Elondil, and the cutting off of his ringed finger by Isildur led to the end of his next physical form. The scene of the kings fighting Sauron was not shown in Peter Jackson's films.

As someone very familiar with the Tolkien lore, I don't mind the changes to the lore that this show makes. I would not have adapted the story this way (Alas, Bezos never asked me to) but I appreciate how hard it is, so I don't mind it. But the one criticism I hear a lot that I can agree with is that the show does tend to move a little too slow. I think if the show's pace were picked up a bit, it would help a lot, but otherwise I'm enjoying it so far. Ironically, some of the slow pace can also be attributed to deviating from the canon. Creating non-canonical characters such as Adar and Arondir have only bogged down an otherwise massive story to begin with.

people forget that the movies were slow af too, in special the second movie, most of the fights were at the end of the movies, idk why ppl complain about it, personally i love the show so much!

Just a theory you all know how content creators ergo film directors have guilty pleasures like feel good channels, definitely reel rejects will grow more.
