This week I attended a ceramics workshop where we made slab pots and thumb pots, and decorated the clay by using simple tools to create different textures and patterns. On Monday we will be making jesmonite vessels - something I've never used before!

I want to learn how to make hook rugs too. I have so many designs I want to try. I like the short looped rugs though, the ones that look more professional. I'm not one to do projects repeatedly but I admire those who do. They develop great skill while I am a jack of all trades but a master of none. Didn't the great artists stick with one medium to perfected it? I agree it is never too late... I was an athlete when I was young and at 60 I started doing art -- sketching, drawing, knitting, quilting, watercolors, and collage. It's about doing what brings me joy. This week I am going to learn more about quilting. I have started my first quilt. I'm designing some of its larger blocks and playing with color.. I am also doing the Inktober challenge and here I learn to draw new things.

What a fascinating comment. It’s such an interesting theme, whether we ‘should’ stick with one medium, and one that I’ve explored and discussed many times. Many of the great masters explored many different types of media - painting, sculpture, architecture, and part of the old school training was to learn how to express your art through multiple ways. Personally, I would get bored really quickly if I had to stick with one medium and one theme! I love that you’re doing quilting, how wonderful…. And Inktober is fun too. 🥰🙏🙂
