Dear Dreamer, thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. I am taking a break from social media at the moment because of personal reasons that's why I didn't get back to you sooner but I truly appreciate you taking the time to comment on my video. It feels good to know that people enjoy it 🥰 I hope you have a lovely day. Love Lexi

Dear Lexi, What a great way to spend a day, and what an extraordinary harvest! My partner and I were up north on the Bruce Peninsula late in August and into early September, which is about 300 kilometers from where I live in Southwestern Ontario. We found a lot of apple trees now growing wild that are no longer harvested. There used to be a huge amount of apple production in that area, but it's fallen off in recent years for some reason. I gathered many different varieties of apples and turned them into a fantastic zingy applesauce! I might have drizzled a little good whisky in as well, and also added candied ginger. Into the freezer in small jars, and we've got a healthy supply of lovely homemade applesauce for the winter. YUM 😋 Never thought of drying them into apple rings. Might have to try that next year. Thank you, as always, for giving us a little glimpse into your world. I hope the coming winter is good to you! Cheers my friend... Much love, Marian 🇨🇦

Dear Marian, now I finally have time to answer properly. The past two weeks have been rather exhausting. How lovely that you were able to gather so many wild apples. I bet this applesauce turned out amazing. Especially with the added whisky 😂😂! There are a lot of wild-growing apple trees that no one seems to harvest here as well. Unfortunately, a lot of people don´t want to eat organic apples anymore. I work at a fruit and vegetable store and we sell a lot of different apple types (locally grown and unwrapped but not organic). Obviously, they last longer, lock "prettier" and don´t come with little worms and maggots 🙈. My mother gifted me a lot of organic apple rings this year that she made with her dehydrator and I got obsessed with those. 😋 But I don´t have a dehydrator so I googled and found this method. My air-dried apple ring did not get crispy. The consistency is more like gummy bears 😂. But they taste fine and I learned something new. Lots of love to your part of the world. Lexi

@@becomingadreamcatcher Foods that are organic or have defects here are called 'ugly' fruit or vegetables. I prefer it, for the same reasons you do. Harder to find obviously, and often less money as well. I've never had crispy dried apple rings, only ever the softer squishy ones. It's known as fruit leather. You're right, it must be the dehydrator your mom's using. Sounds like the last little while has been crazy at your end. The lead up to the holidays is not going to help slow things down. Don't forget your self care, and remember...breathe!! Many hugs on route 🤗
