I just realized I forgot to mention something in the video and since it is pretty interesting I will tell you guys about it here. In 1917 Mussolini was hired by MI5 (U.K. Intelligence Agency) to promote propaganda for Italy to continue to fight along side the allies in World War I. He was paid £100 every week. Here is a great article by the Guardian that goes more in depth about this if you are interested: goo.gl/JUJfzd

Mussolini did not “form fascism”. Giovanni Gentile created fascism, Mussolini simply enacted it. Mussolini was not anti Slavic I have no idea where you got that from. Fascism is not racist. He got kicked out of the socialist party for advocating to join the war and prefer nationalism over internationalism. He didn’t conquer Slavic nations because he saw them as inferior. He wanted to recreate the Roman Empire, that’s why he tried capturing Egypt and kept Libya. He was even awarded the sword of Islam

The Italian misfortunes in WW2 started way before 1943. In fact there are no large notable successes one can point to. In june 1940 the Italians declared war on France and attempted to break through the Alpine line. The Germans at this point had already broken through the Ardennes and the allied armies were in rout in the north. Yet the Italians managed to completely fuck up their invasion. They failed to break through and suffered extremely high losses compared to what they inflicted. When they attempted to invade greece, and country with like 1/6th their population they were humiliated. The Greeks not only withstood the Italian attack but managed to push hem back deep into Albania, and they would've been driven out entirely if the Germans didn't come and save their ass. The Regia Marina (Italian navy) got dominated by the royal navy in the Med despite the fact that in terms of tonage locally, the Italians held the advantage. In north Africa the Italian forces were very ineffective against British and other allied forces. That theathre of war would not have even been a contest if Rommel hadn't shown up. It is no wonder that the Allies called Italy Europe's soft underbelly and invaded there first before they attempted to attack German held territory.

Mark Harrison That actually was a plan for the Foglore division and Germany paratroopers to both land on the island and take Valletta the capital and force it to surrender but they instead were sent to fight in North Africa and the operation was to take place after the fall of Egypt. Personally I think it was canceled because a German general inspected the Fogolore and ordered a lot of supplies to fund the Italians so they could have the proper equipment for it and as the Germans did many times to Italy they canceled the supplies with the operation so they would not have to give more supplies to Italy that is my hypothesis though with the given facts.

It's a sad reality, but from my time in Italy talking to older Italian people they all agreed that if WW2 never happened, Fascismo probably wouldn't have died in Italy or if it did it would've been years later, since being under the fascist rule wasn't so bad compared to what Italians had before that, they said during that time you could sleep with your front door open and be pretty confident that no one was going to touch anything or you. Schools and hospitals where built or improved, they made it mandatory for all children to go to go to school, they had almost obliterated the mafias power in Italy, but of course it wasn't a paradise but Italians felt there was a sense of order of things for the first time, something alot of people had been asking for. so it's not surprising a government like this came into power back then. "It's just nice to walk down the street and not be mugged because you wore you're exspenive top that day" an old relative of mine said, that's why people liked the fascism government, but after Mussolini saw Germany as a friend and not the enemy anymore it all went to shit.

Also for the symbol of the Italian army: It is the symbol of the Italian army now, but it was called "Regio Esercito" (Royal army) and there was another symbol for it. After this, the video is perfect! Maybe will you do a video about the history of fascism ( also in Portugal and Spain) or mafia?

I've made it my mission to upload at least twice a month (or once every two weeks) for now, but I hope to eventually increase my uploads to once a week. I hope you stick around for the ride because I have a lot of awesome videos planned for the future :)

Great informative video as I'm working on my history essay about Mussolini but please.. why did you have to force an accent :C I'm sorry to say this but it was the wrong pronunciation and it made it a bit annoying hearing it. No hate though, loved the video.
@TalesofHistory5 жыл бұрын
I hope the video helped you with your essay! Also, I agree I did force the pronunciation. Pronunciation is something I am trying to get better at so hopefully I won't make the same mistakes in the future. Thank you for the feedback :)

It's not your fault this is why she got 1 like all year long😂😂😂😂. You don't get to control everyone's pronounciation if you don't like it just move to another channel😈😈😈

natasha tandiwe chivhanga I said I loved the video but apparently you can’t read. I’m Italian and that is why it triggered me a bit as it would to many people if you forced an accent in their language but I had no hate towards him and he understood that unlike you

Whereas the Allies thought it appropriate, for some reason, to hold solely those involved in Nazi atrocities responsible in terms of which the Nuremberg Trials were established, nothing was done in Italy to hold them equally responsible for their crimes including their concentration camps.

Great video man, but could you please send me your sources, because im right now writing a assignment on fascism in Italy, and the assignment requires a source list, so it would help a lot if you send your sources! :)
@TalesofHistory2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I apologize for my delayed response. I would be happy to help you with your source list. Unfortunately when I made this video I forgot to save the exact sources I used for it in my documents (I was much less organized during this time period. Although, I do have the exact source lists for my newer videos if any of those can help for future assignments). I can likely find most of the sources I used. However, I am not sure how helpful the sources will be for an assignment about fascism in Italy since most sources (and the video itself) mainly focused on Mussolini's life/career. I can find other reliable sources that will provide in-depth details about fascism in Italy that I did not mention in this video. There are a lot of good books on the topic that you can purchase or potentially check-out at a local library, but it may take time for me to locate free reliable digital sources. Let me know if you still need sources and I can research credible ones for you (I can also just make a video on the subject but that won't likely meet your time constraints lol). Best of luck on the assignment!
