The Japanese luxury manufacturers suffer from a similar issue to the post 80s American ones even when a good product is made it is second rate on the market at best Lexus with there rabidly loyal fanbase being the exception. When it comes to a luxury brand image is everything this is something the Germans, Italians and Americans Pre 1975ish understand when I think of a luxury car I think of a Mercedes S-Class. Genesis in 25 years will either be the next Lexus or the next infinite

The CVT transmission is what is killing it. You are correct they don’t hold up over time either
@BrkDownMedia4 ай бұрын
They definitely don’t but I’ve seen people get 200k out of them. The Nissan engines are too potent for the transmission.

I still have my 2011 FX50S with the factory full aero kit, GTR wheels and 2017 front facelift. There is no SUV like it. 390hp v8 that can gap most cars. Rear Active Steering on a FM chassis, sport suspension, adaptive headlights. Engine can make over 1,000hp with stock internals 🔥

Yeah I’ve heard nice things about the 5.0L usually more reliable due to less stress on engine as well.

Well it was more sporty. The front of the President (what is was based on) looked more luxury sedan like. But I don´t have a problem with the other design. Well trying something new is always a "risk".

INFINITI was so good in the late 2000s. Nissan would probably be better off without INFINITI and add a few RWD models to the Nissan lineup.

Idk, the lux market is a big one that gives you a lot of clout when done right. I think had they lowered their volume and increased their build quality, they would have faired better.

@@BrkDownMedia Yep cost cutting. Biggest mistake!

Even in Japan the home market the only "big" model left is the Skyline (G/Q50). It´s so sad.

@@BrkDownMedianah, Nissan isn’t really good at Luxury vehicles. Lesve that to bmw

Nice. And some of the editing. 😁 I don´t like the name changing to only Q now. Ghosn was pushing the G and others but it was not him who said they should make it. Problem with him is the cost cutting. That was probably the biggest failiure. Destroying the reputation is sadly very bad.

Thank you for this video and topic about Infiniti. The Infiniti was a kool name. I never bought into it. I recall the Mazda RX-7 in the 1980s, I really want that car. Years later, I lost interest in Mazda. A lot of Toyota TV commercials appeared. I liked the Toyota Celica and the Supra seemed okay. My focus was on Mustang, Camaro, Trans Am, Porsche, and Corvette. As of today, the only Mazda that was nice was the Mazda 6 now discontinued. Mazda and Infiniti brands are has been. I always associated Honda with the Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Nissan as garbage, and Suzuki for motorcycle dirt bikes. It does appear that the once great American Automotive Manufacturers are failing or falling as their foreign competitors in the U.S. marketplace has surged to high heights. What companies will survive the battle as technology advances over the next 20 to 50 years? Will there be a new rival into the scheme of things as the natural resource of fossil fuel diminishes?
@BrkDownMedia Жыл бұрын
The legacy manufacturers are taking their time moving into the EV space and that opens the door for new competition. So it is possible they will fall a notch or two on the totem pole.

Infiniti has never really been marketed very well, if at all outside of the USA. Some years back, the Nissan factory in Britain started to produce an Infinity luxury model that was targeted towards European buyers. Nissan of course is well known, but both in Europe and the UK, most people would never even have heard of Infiniti before. And I doubt that many would remember that model today. It died a quick and forgettable death.
@BrkDownMedia13 күн бұрын
Yeah I agree. To be honest, Seperate luxury marquees are more of an American Marketing tactic. Started with GM with Cadillac.

I feel like Nissan messed up Infiniti. Infiniti would be so much better as Mazdas luxury brand with new styling. Cheap cars with bad transmissions weren’t helping at all.
