That truely earned the title "evergreen". Edit: Lmao,i've just yet seen the guy saying that it's online community died of much quicker, than their other online modes?... Max Payne 2 has by far the best script in my opinion. Max Payne 1 storytelling was special, revolutionary and badass but, looking at it today, even if it's still very good and unique, you can see that it has a classic videogame structure. While Max Payne 2, if it were a movie or a book, it would be amazing anyway and perfect as it is. Max Payne 2 is pure existential poetry. It's so complex, deep, full of metanarrative...everytime i play it feels like i'm learning something new about the story, the characters, the themes and the world where it takes place. Anyway i think both Max Payne 1 and 2 are masterpieces. If i have to convince someone that videogames can be art, i would show them Max Payne 1 and 2.

Breaks my heart to see so many modern documentaries using footage from the PC version of the original Max Payne without fixing the shootdodge bug. Max isn’t supposed to drag along the ground like that. It’s caused by modern systems running at too high of a frame rate and is easily fixed with a fan patch! Besides that - another great documentary! Just distracted by the lazy footage

Same here. Max is supposed to jump across and not slide across. High FPS also causes Max to slide down stairs and make the second dream sequence virtually impossible due to the bugged physics caused by high FPS.

I just wanna say thank you for making & posting this video. I was 18 fresh out of high school when I saw an ad for this game coming out soon called Max Payne, it grabbed my attention and curiosity immediately. Luckily my curiosity was put to rest that Christmas, when a roommate of mine gifted me the game on PS2. And to be frank after the first 5 minutes I've been a huge fan of the series. In my personal opinion the story and the first game is in my top 10 favorite game story lines ever. To this day I'll go back and play the game through at least once a year. I just got such fond memories of that game and that time period in my life. Once again, just wanted to say what a great job you did on this documentary. With that being said I would like to tip my hat to you. Cheers

Maybe when Remedy wants to make Max Payne 4 either Rockstar can let them develop it and they can publish it or they each can co-develop the game together. It seems like if Max Payne 4 were ever happens it will be more on Remedys time table than Rockstars, as long as Rockstar is willing and allows Remedy to take the financial risk to develop it.

I love this franchise to death. Easily holds up somewhere in my top 5 as a tie between all three. MP3 has a love-hate relationship with me; On one hand, it's got one of the most relentless, grittiest campaigns i've ever played and by far the most improved and weighty TPS gameplay ever, and in other ways the story had me longing for a proper chapter of Sam Lake's fascinating, bleak and goofy criminal underbelly to bring closure with the NYPD trigger-happy grief-stricken cop.

I feel much the same. Seen as a stand-alone game, it wasn't bad. But seen as a Max Payne game... It left me wanting more... More Max Payne... The old Max Payne, that is... This game neither felt, not played, as a Max Payne game. The cover mechanic hampered the flow of the game play (as it always does). I didn't like the changes to bullet-time... Max felt much slower and shoot-dodging while picking off a handful of thugs felt completely unsatisfying.

Now let's be honest. While the third entry maybe wasn't the PERFECT hit, it ended the trilogy fine and, for me, only left good feelings for the franchise. I'd rather not see a new installment, then getting a fourth title, that just somewhat destroys the nostalgia. I played through Max Payne 3, for 4 times and I loved every minute of it. Played the 1 & 2 just as much and loved them, too. So, in my opinion, Rockstar should let Max Payne enjoy his pension. And as always, great freakin' video you guys gave us!

I remember being like 13 the first time I played Max Pain at my friends place. To this day, it’s because of Max Pain, I have any appreciation at all for morbid and horrifying psychological based games, because that game was the first time I had any experience at all with a game that made me think _“My Character I’m playing as, is an actual psychopath”,_ and it made me feel bad at times, both for Max and the things he did to get his _“revenge”._ It was genuinely horrifying to me, seeing his kid dead, I never seen that in a game before and it shook me at the time. Now I kinda laugh a little at what made me upset, just seeing some pixels and labeling them as whatever (Plot device that makes main Character angry) was enough for me back then to be more than invested. Makes me wonder what the hell happened to games nowadays, they got all the technology in the world, yet none of them made me _“feel”_ as much as games I played as a kid. Now at 29 I basically don’t play video games, I watch others review them; and not be surprised at how much I knew they’d suck, because publishers and developers only care about flipping a quick buck off the backs of their customers.
