ultimately he didnt understand what he was doing as he gambled and blew it all - even dipping in to the funds of the Insurance Company which is illegal. Him and family were delusional saying the Govt robbed their company when the Quinns had blown billions

This is completely true and not in dispute as far as I can see. Unfortunately, he took out loans against those companies to cover the loses incurred by his gamble on Anglo Irish Shares. It is hugely regrettable that as those shares became worthless, Quinn lost control of his assets which secured those loans. It is unfortunate and simple in equal measure. Even more regrettable is that more was not done to dampen down the anger that ultimately lead to Kevin Lunney's brutal assault.
