This is false information you are peddling. The Gonja in Northern Ghana trace the origin to the Mali and Songhai Empire, Mandinka people. In fact Akans according to literature Akan originated from Sudan in the 10 century. It is Northern Ghana that has strong historical ties to the old Ghana empire. Simple google probably will help you.

Words like Jatta meaning lion and names like Danso show the Akans Mande roots and there are many more . Even the Mossi in Burkina originate from the Mande too.

You could scrape any basic history book written in the past 40 - 60 years and the outcome therein won’t be any different from what you in this content. Look throughout history and you will find empires where remnants of descendants might not presently occupy that ancient territory. Ghana is no different. The name “Ghana” wasn’t just conferred on present day country. The founding fathers of present day Ghana had to make their case on the cusp of independence from British rule with solid, airtight history. See, unbeknownst to you, the migratory patterns after the collapse of the Ghana empire confirm most descendants went down south. And for obvious reasons: in search of lush forests and vegetation to farm, water and a much moderate climate with the expanding sahara desert. The Akans and some ethnic groups in northern Ghana are direct descendants of the old Ghana empire. As are some Ivorians and Burkina be’s. “Mansa,” is a very common name in Ghana. One of the primary dangers in this era, riddled with some much technology is the ease with which one can misinform and get away with it.

I don't see any Ashanti or Akan word that sounds similar to that. Don't mention Nana.. Till date in Gonja kingdom (present day Savannah Region in Ghana, all royal princes are called Lorg-Naa (meaning warrior prince) in old mendinka language. From Gonja historical and cultural heritage, they claim the following dynasty as descendants of the Old Ghana empire.. (a)Dynasty of Sonye's (b) Dynasty on the Mansa' (c) Dynasty of the Askia. The Ghana empire broke apart.. (d) Dynasty of Bur's (e) Dynasty of the wuraa's. 2. The kingdom were predominately made up of mandingoes (from the malinke and sonyinke tribes) thus they included Guans and other related tribes that were originally from mende(beyond the river gambia and between Senegal). The old Ghana empire was converted to Islam way before the ascension of the greatest War lord called Musah (Mansah musah). These they did through Suon Adi-aayata Ketia mansa musahs maternal uncle, who led the sea farin guans to the coast modern day Ghana and who never returned while his various search parties came down looking for him and therefore decided to stay(efutu and ewutu clans of the guans). 4. The kingdom of Ghana fell during the reign of Askia Duadu. Who was a grandson of mansa Musha Kankan (kankan means Termite). The differences in the foods, clothes and cultural aspets are different, including Architecture. Njene mosque is similar to other tribes of the northern Ghana, and Burkina faso. There is misinformation in your first 65 seconds: Kwame Nkrumah didn't choose that name: it was a name suggested by JB Danquah and agreed to by the founding members of the new nation, led by Kwame Nkruamah. Secondly, it is errorneous to suggest the two countries have no connection. The Akans, who made up 60% of Ghana's population at independence and even now, migrated from the Old Ghana Empire to present day Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire and some parts of Togo. That is why the Founders of modern-day Ghana chose that name. Let's get it straight.

From what I found Akan where from the south (modern ghana, togo, benin) while the Ghana empire really represents people from the north (moder mali, niger) adept with horses. Now no source I have can pin point exactly what people made up what percentage of the empire. Because the history got more complex over the years with the Mali and Songhai empires. Please stop separating the two, as that supports a false narrative spun by non-Africans. The Soninke were the first Mandé group that united all other Mandé tribes under Wagadu as a confederal "empire". Also, though we Mandé get a lot of credit for influencing West African Civilization; we should remember the Lake Chad Region. They too played an integral role in helping to spur civilization in West Africa. 🌍, Africa has a long history and Ashanti was only a fraction of it. Before the Europeans lines, Gambia, Ghana, Burkina were made up of different people. There is no single linear people that stayed and controlled one place for thousands of years. Ghana is an ancestral name that existed long before the country.
