@FuckPolitcs
@FuckPolitcs 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshprew VY's struggles in the passing game were due to his release mechanics. He always brought the ball to his hip before releasing, a common mechanic learned young. At his highest bouts of competition in CFB it got exposed and he had to play from behind, but his athleticism, composure, and playmaking ability shined and led to many comeback wins even in the NFL, his release mechanics were the reason he got behind. Had he fixed and sped up his release he wouldve gone from "comeback kid" to "dominant." Everything considered from trading McNair and acquiring Kerry Collins, the unnecessary quotes to the media, and the police crisis negotiators do you really think that staff prioritized developing Vince?

I remember Vince saying in an interview, that on the playgrounds and vacant lots in Houston, he played a lot of sports as a kid. And that some of the other kids were better athletes than him. How many amazing talents never get a shot at college and professional success due to lack of opportunity. Sadly, many of the best athletes to ever play are unknown legends.
@2Pi100

I grew up in Houston. It is a literal mecca for young talent of all sports, it's truly unbelievable. I completely agree with you, so many athletes have professional potential within them, but lack of resources/lack of drive, or both, leave alot to slip through the cracks.

Eerie how his last great moment was 5 seconds left in the fourth, against Matt Leinart... And the first time he was in that same exact situation, he pulled off the win with his legs, the second time... he threw a no look pass to Kenny Britt. The story that could've been if Jeff Fisher was actually a good coach.

Unfortunately, players like Vince Young just didn't want to put in the work....Scouts and Head Coaches knew about his lack of prep and inability to stay in the pocket, check off and read defenses...that requires a lot of "homework" at the NFL Level... but in the modern era of WIN WIN WIN, they hope that they can get 2 good seasons themselves and lock in their own lucrative contracts.

Yet, the NFL is currently filled with guys that are just like this. Cam Newton won a MVP with those traits. Truth is truth, and VY wasn't the professional he needed to be, but it's not as if his support system was there to encourage him. Fisher made it personal and it would have been difficult for anyone under those circumstances.

Ahh Vince Young one of many complete draft busts that Skip Bayless was totally wrong about. ill never forget him saying "the Titans will win super bowls with vince young at Quarterback. yes i said super BOWLS plural" on First Take. heres another amazing quote by our buddy Skip in an article he wrote for ESPN the magazine after that years draft "The Titans got Vince Young with the third pick -- just the way Michael Jordan fell into the Chicago Bulls' happy laps. Then the Titans snatched LenDale White -- who should have been a top-10 pick -- midway through the second round? That's almost unfair. That's the greatness of the NFL draft. In 10 years, Vince Young will have won two Super Bowls and will be a cinch Hall of Famer. In 10 years, LenDale White will be considered even better than Jerome Bettis was as a chain-moving touchdown machine."
