Covering the entire trilogy of Apes movies to appreciate them and sometimes mock them when they go a bit too hard on the goofball stuff.

Same when I watch it. They nerfed the Apes by making them used spears instead of the of assault rifles from the weapon depot from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes They also nerfed Donkey because he could easily destroy the man behind him after shooting the rocket to save Caesar. I think when the colonel showed mercy by not killing Caesar, that's his downfall. Caesar sparing Preacher got him killed at the end. They all need to be like Koba. This video has 2 hidden message dedicating to Koba. Released Covid-19 in the center of certain Asian country to stop it raise and completely eliminating the Native Americans Indians to stop it threat. Koba style. Update I want to ask the following questions as my memory is still fresh. When the man meet Caesar as he's collecting firewoods. Why didn't he got infected? The colonel got infected and turned within a day after touching Nova doll. Is the wood cutter one of colonel man who defy his order to kill all infected or be killed? Who infected Nova? Did Nova turned the moment Caesar killed the wood cutter? Who's blood is on Nova doll?

@@Howesenberg The irony in the scene is the way Caesar is looking down at Koba. It’s the exact same way he looked at Jacob dangling off the bridge in the first movie and left it up to Koba to decide his fate. One thing I find interesting about this trilogy is that everybody has a different favourite film. For me, Dawn is my clear favourite, but yours is Rise and some people have said War is their top. @@wojtek1582 I agree regarding War. I personally think it's great until they reach the dam, love the western vibes, but after that it feels very sloppy. I found Dawn to be a far more fresh experience while Rise was more "Hollywood". Not saying that as a bad thing, just at this point in my life Dawn resonated much more with me. I will say, far and away my favourite scene in the whole trilogy is the first time Caesar speaks. Absolutely masterful.

Idk why people don’t like Bad ape, I found him to be a Victim of Caesars actions. When he released the virus he didn’t think that the government would start putting down apes in Zoo’s. Bad ape is a reminder of the consequences of Caesar wanting to grow his own family.
@Howesenberg

It was the way they used Bad Ape to deliver comedy at awkward times, I didn't have a problem with his back story and his mission to find his son, which I'm fairly certain the movie either forgot about or they glossed over the ending of that quest...or possibly I just forgot which is very likely

@@Howesenberg I mean it’s fine that you didn’t care for the awkward comedic moments. However I like the contrast from Maurice to bad ape and their dynamic. After a couple of rewatches, I've grown to enjoy it a lot more. you really see Caesar's internal struggles more than the previous two movies, it's definitely the most emotional movie out of all three. The reason the US didn't bomb the Redwoods is not only due to conservation laws, but also due to the virus spreading via the pilot being infected by the fat scientist. They had bigger things to deal with then killing what they still thought were just animals, unfortunately for them the virus was so potent that it caused complete societal collapse. I also feel you gave Bad Ape too much hate, yes he is a comic relief character, but his story of being a survivor of purges of Apes in zoos during the Simian Flu crisis gives him more depth as a character. It's the reason he helps Caesar despite his fear of the 'human zoo', he lost his family to humans just like Caesar lost most of his. But I will admit War is my least favorite of the trilogy, Rise will always be my favorite since you can go from it to the original Planet of the Ape movie and everything will still make sense.

This is the best way to make a reboot or remake. You keep the spirit of the original, you make parallels to the events of the original, you develop the original's themes by showing them from new perspectives or subverting/deconstructing them, but at the same time you make a new story, a new set of characters, a new narrative telling its own arc. This reboot trilogy worked because it wasn't literally just a rehash of something we've already seen, but at the same time stays true to the text about the original's theme of "us versus the other".

The build up from these movies is so masterfully well done. Caesar went from being a household pet produced from a lab experiment to becoming the savior and liberator among apes. He went from being seen as an animal to then being seen as an equal among humans and eventually apes dominated over them. The character development is mind blowing going from basic apes to these complex characters that progressively develop throughout the movie.

Just did a rewatch of the series and remembered how hyped I was for them coming out years back. By far one of my favorite personal trilogies and glad matt reeves took over for the 2nd and 3rd movies. In my opinion my favorite is the 2nd then the 1st and 3rd are neck and neck. Will definitely keep this series close to my heart and continue to rewatch in the future!

It's nice to see someone bring up Micheal Giacchino and MOH: frontline, that game is a masterpiece if for nothing else it's amazing soundtrack, every single piece made for that game has stuck with me through the years. It for me is one of the best original scores developed for any game in the WW2 genre. And I have to agree wholeheartedly about Gary Oldmans character being slept on, his performance is extremely captivating when compared to the other human leads. I also like how the third film ends all happy and sunshine with the apes finding a new home, as if the entire human race isn't f*cked beyond repair. Great video as ever, i personally enjoy the longer ones.

I think you're the first person I've interacted with who has a love for MOH: Frontline too. The whole game hits hard and makes you feel like you belong in the fight and yeah I definitely think a big part of that is Michael's work. Thanks for the kind words, I do definitely enjoy working on the longer videos, I just feel compelled to bits in between to keep my audience aware that I am alive lol

@@Howesenberg I don't believe the game is as remembered by the public as much as the other titles in the series or games in its genre, but whenever I find a fan of the game they more often than not, love it vehemently. It helps i think, that it plays sort of like a WW2 James bond film, with all the sneaking about you do, and the theatrical elements and set pieces, help it stand apart from most games we think of when it comes to WW2. The amount of care that went into the game by the developers was nothing short of gold standard. And like you say, it engrosses the player so heavily, from the narration to the world building, to the score it all adds so much to feeling like what we do ingame is making a difference. Also quite rare for a WW2 game, it actually had the Germans portrayed in a neutral light, with the pub scene in particular showing us their human side. But thank you for the videos, kind words is the least we can offer to people who go out of their way, to entertain others, without them society would fall apart from boredom alone. Keep up the being alive!

Absolutely beautiful and superb trilogy will put together and not a character out of place, I was dubious of Steve zahns character of bad ape but zahn completely sells it & makes it believable. Lithgow in the 1st movie is as usual brilliant and as you say sells Alzheimer's as a real disease not just movie of the week feeling. Caesar though holds all three movies together in a criminally underated trilogy character arc. I like the fact the neighbour a prick and when he gets his comeuppance it like a tasteless joke but the punchline comes in Rise with the final credits. The opening to the sequel is brilliant but flawed (any reference to current president should have been excluded as dated the movie instantly) Utterly bleak as the sequel is, Jason Clarke and Andy Sarkis work is phenomenal and utterly believable. Theirs a brilliant shot towards the end of the movie where Clarke steps into the dark working as a metaphor for man's place in the world. War is a great wrap up of the trilogy part wrap up and references to other war movies and a movie in its own right. Woody harrellson is great as a deranged but understandably damaged human being. Great trilogy Great review
