Yul's game being cut short in WAW I think greatly affected Sophie, Wendell, Michele and Nick's games. If they had merge a round sooner, I think he would've been able to hold his original Dakal group together.

That’s why voting him out was a very dumb decision imo, and it wasn’t the first time Nick made a mistake like this

The best winners are the ones that are able to adapt to their situation and overcome it. Ozzy’s strategy never changed in four appearances, and even though Yul’s time in WaW was cut short he still showed a great mind and 100% deserved to win Cook Islands more than Ozzy
@bigbuffguy9589 Жыл бұрын
Lol, Yul never should have been at Final Tribal Council in the first place. Ozzy got screwed by the surprise final three, and he still came within a vote of winning the game. And Ozzy 100% wins South Pacific if he makes it to Final Tribal Council.

@@bigbuffguy9589 Lol, Ozzy never should have been at Final Tribal Council in the first place. Ozzy got carried by winning 5 immunity challenges, and he still couldn't convince the jury. Survivor has always been about strategic play and Yul did that to a T in Cook Islands.

@@sorin_markovI get the point you're making, but I don't think it's fair to punish somebody for immunity wins when it's been the only form of safety consistent through all 44 seasons.

Russell Hantz and Boston Rob are 2 other players who, like Ozzy, seem to be incapable of changing their gameplay and adapting to the differing casts in each season. Tony, Coach, & Cochran all evolved and changed each season. It didn’t earn them a win every time…in fact, Coach has never won…but there was no doubt that they at least attempted to question themselves and try to do something differently than before. If Ozzy was more careful of and aware of the social aspect of the game…Cochran either wouldn’t have flipped or Ozzy could have talked him back over to his side and won that season. Ozzy was in the leadership position and could have easily stifled out any of the bullying going on. His tribe basically worshipped him. Ozzy also just has no idea how to gauge what others want and what their intentions are. It shows badly at Final Tribal Council in Cook Islands and it’s why he’s always successfully blindsided when alliance members betray him. He’s not aware enough of others to even get suspicious.

Yul got absolutely screwed in Winners at War as Sandra quitting the Edge forced another Tribal Council. Him making the merge wouldve most likely prevented the Tony post merge domination. Not to mention that he was excluded by the clique that formed on the Edge because he helped Adam when he came to the edge(when apparently everyone else decided to exclude the post mergers) and everyone thought he was already trying to pander to the jury
@OnceUponAnIsland Жыл бұрын
He got screwed by having no chance at any tokens in the pre-merge by being the last voted off. He was legit in it to win during those come back challenges.
@066kshitizvsingh4 Жыл бұрын
@OnceUponAnIsland Honestly, though, that's my problem with the Edge and Fire Token implementation in WaW. It rewarded players for getting voted out early(should never happen) and made it insanely harder for those who actually played and went deep into game with mechanics like forced bequeathals and regular High Fire Token challenges from which the Edge people got more Fire Tokens to buy advantages which wouldn't have been so much as a problem if it weren't for forced bequeathals ensuring that a player voted out late would have nothing on entering the Edge while also knowing nothing about how it operated and the sheer advantages given to an Edge Returnee on return.
@bigbuffguy9589 Жыл бұрын
Yul didn't get screwed, lol. Wendell had better relationships than Yul did. There's no magic number for when the merge happens.
@066kshitizvsingh4 Жыл бұрын
@bigbuffguy9589 I mean, Had Sandra not left the edge, The battle back challenge would've had enough people, so there wasn't any need for another Pre Merge Tribal Council., so that would've meant Yul by default would've made the merge, And who knows what would've happened then Plus given the old school purge Post swap, Yul was going to be the next anyways if he had to go pre merge(which he did since Sandra quitting did screw him over as it created a situation not originally happening) Plus being the large pre merge boot, Yul was not only forced to give his Fire Tokens but was never allowed to get any Fire Tokens either, doubly screwing him
@jesuisencoler Жыл бұрын
I think if boston rob won EOE chalenge at the merge it would prevented tony domination with yul not being voted out too

It may not be popular to say, but never forget that Yul is one of the luckiest winners in Survivor history. If there's no surprise final three, I'd say there's like an 80% chance or better that Ozzy wins the final immunity challenge, votes Yul out and cruises to victory over Becky. The only winners who are luckier due to production interference are Ben (Devon was robbed) and Parvati (Cirie was robbed).
@mazdakmina949326 күн бұрын
Ozzy was *very* close to losing *both* the previous two immunity challenges (and in both cases, it was the person who was in the most trouble who nearly defeated him - Adam lost to Ozzy by seconds, and Sundra lasted far longer than people expected and nearly won *twice* when Ozzy *very nearly* fell off the platform *twice* and *barely* saved himself in both cases). And yes, Ozzy himself was also upset in a final immunity challenge win by Sophie 5 years later in South Pacific. So yes, there's a strong possibility that Ozzy loses if there's one more immunity challenge - and Yul (now knowing that challenge will decide if he wins or loses the game) might have been the one to defeat him! Maybe Yul got lucky, but you could also argue that the same twist robbed him of a potential opportunity to pull off what could've been a clutch immunity win to cement himself as arguably the greatest individual winner in all of Survivor history. Instead, he now had to face one of the greatest players ever at a final tribal council and put in one of the greatest final tribal performances ever (apparently, going into final tribal that night, six of the nine were planning to vote Ozzy - Yul apparently flipped Candice and Sundra's votes that night and won himself the title with his final tribal performance)!
@mazdakmina949326 күн бұрын
Also, I disagree with your list of who was luckier. *Tony* is *by far* the *most* lucky that Woo took *him* and *not* Kass to the final two! Woo *easily* wins if he takes Kass, and *easily* loses if he takes Tony, and Woo made the blunder of all blunders! If *that* boneheaded move doesn't happen, Tony *never* wins! Does Tony still deserve it? Absolutely! Because *every* winner has to rely on *some* luck - even Tony's second win was very lucky (I'm astounded Denise voted Sandra - who gave her the very idol that saved her that night, as *Denise* would've been voted out without that idol - and *not* Tony, the *only* other player who wasn't immune and who seemed like the obvious choice. Tony was one massively shocking decision away from getting voted out *well* before the merge)! The point is, luck is everywhere in this game, and the best players make the most of their luck. And even those who aren't lucky find a way to win despite their bad luck. Yul certainly did that as well - he won a final tribal council with Ozzy in it, *and* he helped lead a tribe that was 8-4 behind in numbers to the final 4! He was a *very* deserving winner!
@mazdakmina949326 күн бұрын
Perhaps unpopular opinion, but: using the same metrics most people use to declare Tony the greatest player ever, *Yul* is the greatest Survivor player ever - because he did *everything* that Tony did *first* and *far better!* Tony's genius "super-idol" play is highlighted as one of his biggest moves in his first season. *Yul* did that first, *and* changed the game with that play. Tony is also well-known for his spy shacks/spy bunkers/spy nests that allowed him to hear what people say behind his back. Good move, but it has one flaw - he has to disappear for a period of time, and that makes people suspicious. If there was a way to know what people are thinking *without* disappearing, *that* would give you that same huge advantage with *none* of that flaw! Well, *Yul* did *exactly* that! He was a professional game theorist and worked as an ambassador in the White House. He knew everyone better than they knew *themselves!* He often got *more* information *without* disappearing! And oh, people point out that Tony won Winners at War and Yul didn't. It's a strong argument, but it has one flaw. That was Tony's *third* season, and he was considered less of a threat because in his *second* season, he got voted out *second overall* - exactly due to him *being* such a strong player and massive threat. And yes, fans of Tony either refuse to acknowledge he got voted out so quickly his second time playing, or (as I just did) claim it's a point *in his favor* because it shows what a threat he was - and I actually agree with the latter. And so, judging Yul by the same "2nd game" performance - now against tougher competition than Tony faced on Game Changers - Yul was arguably *the biggest* threat from the *very* beginning of the game, yet *no one* noticed and he lasted *far* longer than Tony did in *his* second outing! In short, if we're using "the Tony metric" for who is the greatest Survivor player ever, then *Yul* is the greatest player ever by that standard! Also, I'm glad you edited this moreso to look like Nick voted Yul out because he was terrified of how dominant and unstoppable a post-merge Yul would be - *not* because Yul asked for an extra fire token (as the show tried to make it seem). That is indeed what actually happened. Even the show's efforts to edit it so it looked like it was all about Yul's fire token move included phrases that made it clear that that was one point in a *larger* conversation (i.e., that Yul had thought of *everything,* that he had left *no* stone unturned, and that it only had *finally* hit everyone that *he* was the one *actually* controlling this game, even though no one had noticed it before)!

We’ve had some amazing players and personalities overall and I would LOVE a new school all stars season eventually maybe after a couple more seasons with people like: Cody, Omar, Ricard, Naseer, Drea, Karla, Noelle, etc. I feel like because there was aspects of the season with new twists that weren’t the best people under value the seasons. But that’s on production a lot of the time. The players were good and this season currently it’s been the best of the best so far since WAW imo.
