As long as Bharat exists , his legacy will continue to be cherished forever. Same was the condition post-Harsha but a Chandragupta couldn't arise due to absence of Chanakya resulting in slavery for 1235 years. Still now we have the same but in different way.

Why Buddhism is shown when we know Chanakya was Brahmin and as his disciple Emperor Chandragupta was Hindu till he was on throne but as he accepted he is no longer necessary he embraced Jainism as per sage's guidance. At that Buddhism was going to start. After Emperor Chandragupta embraced Jainism his few family members who also had abdicated their positions for next generation did similar things also because such important people embraced Jainism public and family members also started practicing Jainism.Emperor Bindusar son of Emperor Chandragupta followed Hinduism to core and his family members consisted of Hindu and Jain belief until Emperor Ashok who converted to Buddhism for a political marriage when he was Governor of Taxashila for hardening his position in line of succession.Emperor Ashok was cruel in his methods even after accepting Buddhism and even killed Jain family members for his fun. When he gave up violence influence of Buddhism on everything increased including Universities causing collapse of internal systems and eventually fall of Empire at time of his successors.
