Yes, Jackson wasn’t just American; he was a Black Jewish American. 😊 We still remember him fondly in Uzbekistan. It’s sad that he was never able to return to his homeland in the USA, but he established the Uzbek boxing school. I hope he can see from heaven how successful his legacy has become.

For those wondering why an Uzbek boxer is named "Israil" (Israel), the name "Israil" in Uzbek literally translates to "Israel." Many Uzbeks have this name, but it has no connection to the modern state of Israel. In Islam, Israil refers to the prophet Jacob (known as Yaqub in Uzbek), and the name has been popular since our ancestors embraced Islam. Similarly, many Uzbeks are named Musa and Isa, which means Moses and Jesus.

Disagree, it was the weight that had more impact, Crawford was not able to fully dominate a man that was clearly at the same physical size as him, Crawford at 147 was coming in at nearly 160 pounds after rehydration, now that he is at his 4th weight, the size advantage is gone, had it been at 147 I don’t see madrimov beating Crawford or being a thougher fight.

Rufat Asadovich Riskiyev is a retired Uzbek boxer, who represented the USSR at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There he won the silver medal in the middleweight division (- 75 kg). In the final he was defeated by United States youngster Michael Spinks, after the referee had to stop the contest in the third round. Two years earlier, at the inaugural 1974 World Championships in Havana, Cuba, Riskiyev won the world title. He is our legendary boxer forever.

As a long-time boxing fan, I can easily say I found the Olympic boxing unimpressive.. Olympic boxing feels like a high-level game of hand tag with far too many rules. Competitors seemed more focused on raising their hand in the air in an attempt to win the judges over, rather than aiming to get their opponents out of the ring. Much respect to the winning Uzbek's, here's hoping they leave the amateurs for the pro ranks.

Close, but no cigars for Madrimov, and that one boxer who going into the 12th round, only had to lose that round by a point, but got stopped in teh Featerhwegith divison. ALso the one who fought Matias, at Sueer lightweight, started out strong, but got stopped in about 8. Matias then went on to lose to the Australian. Earlier, either late 90's or early 2000 there was an Uzbek boxer fighting out of germany who was Light wegith champ. As for pros right now, Ukraine and russia have done far better.

Modern Uzbeks trace their ancestry to three branches of Turkic people: the Karluks, Oguz, and Kipchaks. Originally, all of these groups were nomadic. The Karluks settled in the 7th century after embracing Islam, while the Oguz became settled later, between the 9th and 10th centuries, with many migrating to what is now Turkey. The Kipchaks adopted Islam in the 15th century and remained largely nomadic until the 20th century. However, the Kipchaks who became part of the modern Uzbek nation settled earlier due to intermixing with the Karluks and Oguzs.

Madrimov is leading the pack. Crawford's s victory over him will age like fine wine. Jalolov was gifted an Olympic win over the new Zealander. I'm not sure if Omari Jones deserved to lose to his Uzbek opponent, Either.

Olympic boxing is such a joke. Its all about appealing to the point system, the fights are soft and boring. The technical aspect is way less impressive when you consider there is hardly any risk involved compared to REAL boxing. Of the olympic boxing specialists, very few if any at all will make it in real boxing because they would get rocked shitless into another dimension. The points appeal system they run at the olympics should quite honestly be considered another sport. It is an embarrassment to boxing and it cheapens the amount of risk, heart, and soul that goes into the peak version of the sport. This is not a shot at the uzbeks, I love some of their actual pros. Murodjon, Shakhram, etc are great pros. But olympic boxing needs a reboot fuck that disney ass sport. It is like calling softball and baseball the same sport, flag football and tackle football, etc.

Yet some of the biggest names in the pro boxing all went through Olympic boxing/amateur boxing in their career. I am thinking of Klitchko, Usyk, Anthony Joshua, Mayweather, etc

@@rambo10101 Its not to say there isn't good boxers there, its to highlight that its not a competition designed for the best boxer to win, it is a competition to heavily cater to the judges standards which takes away all the entertainment value

What this Jew Jackson taught is long out of date. Those Jackson taught have long since died. Uzbek boxing is Uzbek style.
