Wyoming Jeepers

Жыл бұрын

Wyoming Jeepers head east of Cody, Wyoming to into the Bighorn Mountains. Here they jeep to Willet Creek Meadows where they used to camp and fish with their kids long ago. They attempt to go over Woodchcuk Pass. The flooding water rises after they cross streams making fording the river very exciting.
Check out the beautiful scenery with us and join us for the ride!

Dang...that was one of the best water crossings I have seen in a Jeep...knowing how deep it was. I was worried you were going to pull water into your intake on your motor. Wow...I'm impressed with the GUTS you have on that one! Nice job.
@wyomingjeepers

Thank you! We were worried about water in the intake too... That is why I wanted the rope. I wanted to keep some speed going through to keep water from coming up in the engine bay too high. We lucked out and no water made it into the air intake!

When we go alone, we often are sorry Dan & Elaine aren't with us. We have done our share of shoveling for hours when we haven't had them to pull us out of something stupid we got ourselves into. "Just a little farther," we think as we inch ourselves into situations like this alone. It is so much better to get into trouble with a friend to help you out. Haha Thanks for watching.

Epic day! That peace of mind of having a second rig...I think of it often as I'm out solo. Ersh... Glad everything panned out safely, though I dread the day I need to pull my carpet for the first time. Did about 28"-30" a few weeks ago, and though it was a short section, it was plenty deep for me! :) Best to WY from MT.

@wyomingjeepers Жыл бұрын
I agree... There are many places I go and I am much more careful when by myself. With the second jeep, you can take many more chances... Even in the snow and mud. We don't want to get into that deep of water again... It was a little too deep. :-) Thanks for watching and commenting.

Guys, I love watching your videos very much. I do however have to raise a safety concern: you should NEVER handle a winch line with hands while it is under load. A snapping winch line can sever limbs... this is about 21:30 winching.
@wyomingjeepers
@wyomingjeepers Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern and in most cases I agree. However, this was a winch pulling a dead dried up tree that was about a 200 lb pull max rather than a 4500 jeep. There was no danger in the rope breaking and hurting anyone. In fact, you can see him lift the line over a branch by lifting it up a few inches during the pull. This would never be possible in a serious pull. In addition, it is a synthetic rope and Dan was basically making sure it didn't catch on broken limbs which would compromise the line for future pulls. I do believe you will notice in all the other winch pulls in other videos that no one was messing with a winch line in a serious pull. Thanks for watching and I do appreciate your comment and concern.
@melissacook
@melissacook Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip! It is good information for our viewers. Typically, we would NEVER touch the line, but in this case, there was no danger. That said, I wouldn't want our viewers to think you can do that anytime because you are right; it is dangerous in most cases. Thanks for watching!

The best part about adventures like this is you get to equip your jeep with all the items you were inadequately equipped for on the last ride! So I bet you have a Depth gauge, periscope, and snorkel kit on order! You should get sponsored by speedo for the times you have to swim out! Ha ha
@wyomingjeepers
@wyomingjeepers Жыл бұрын
A periscope would have been nice! You are correct, other trips made us get more recovery gear. It took about 5 straps or so just to make it across the creek. Glad we had them! Guess we need to contact Speedo!!!
@AuthorMelissaCook
@AuthorMelissaCook Жыл бұрын
Elaine was rolling up her pants to walk out in the water. I think it was so deep that rolled-up pants were not going to cut it for her. Haha. We don't plan to cross water that deep again, so there is no need for the snorkel kit. The clean-up was a bear. Thanks for watching!

I spent part of my younger years in Tucson, Arizona, and was there for the 1,000-year flood. I'm aware of what can happen to a vehicle in fast water because I saw it firsthand. Seeing that makes a water crossing like this a bit scarier for me. Elaine and I voted against the Willet crossing and again on the swift-moving creek. Thanks for watching!
