A hearty thank you from this lesbian who has been raising the alarm about the misogyny and homophobia inherent in the trans rights movement for almost 15 years . I am an old school radical who is shocked and alarmed that most people do not see trans ideology and cancel culture as the social fascism that it is.

"...most people do not see trans ideology and cancel culture as the social fascism that it is." I'd say that the overwhelming majority of people do see that, but when MSM and showbiz luvvies and the universities and an increasing number of companies hold sway over the public fora, the average Joe/Jo Blow only has a general election to express his (or her) views.

We almost had it right in the 90's. We wern't quite there, but we were pretty close. For the most part everyone gave everyone else space to be themselves, we lived and let live, and when we didn't get it right, we laughed about it together and tried again. The solidarity of all people, whatever creed, colour, religion or politics was solid because the differences were background noise. We didn't care too much, because we knew we could work at it, and if someone did they were an outlier. It breaks my heart that 20/25 years later we are in the world that we are in by comparison to where we were. I agree with James that this change came with social media and the ease with which it allowed polarisation and zealotry. It was supposed to make the world more open, more understanding by the virtue that you could touch base with anyone, anywhere and it's achieved the polar opposite. So saddening.

Exactly, social media, almost everything that is messed up in society now was either caused by, or made immeasurably worse by these platforms, and they're making a fortune in the process. We must abandon these platforms. I'm an IT guy and us lot were generally online before most folk found out about it, and for a good 10 years before these behemoths hijacked online conversation we had small, user-run, user-moderated, subject-specific forums in the form of usenet and bulletin boards like CIX. There were no likes, no followers, no adverts, and absolutely no governmental or big-brother control, and people generally got on. Sure, there were flame wars here and there, but they didn't destroy society. To slightly correct the above, the internet was the thing that was supposed to make the world more open, social media's aim was to corral people into their proprietary system to make money from them, they were the ones that really ruined the internet, it was doing just fine before they came along.

There have been social successes in Britain...vote for women and acceptance of gays. When I last visited Britain, before covid, in 2019, I found youngsters in groups of every colour , all speaking in the same accent. I felt that nobody saw colour; they saw Brits. I saw some odd sights too such as an elderly, bearded man on a mobility scooter in a skirt and stockings , with a pink handbag under his armpit. This was new to me, but it was accepted by all around, while I stood with my mouth open. There were also a number of young people who could have been either male or female. I felt sorry for them, but was told that they were fine. Africa, where I live, still criminalizes gayness, although my country is not, fortunately, vehement about it. Women's rights and gay rights were necessary. This trans rights is not so necessary. The Brits are known to be eccentric so they don't care what anyone looks like, thus the trans people could quietly do what they like. It does not, and should not, be an ideology with a very dangerous agenda. Stonewall should be defunded and told to fold its tent and go home.

In the past I would have supported LGBT, but after seeing what they turned into and when you see articles like "Kink and children belong to Pride" (don't remember if it was the New York Times or another paper) I can't support them anymore.

And there are cis and heterosexual people calling themselves 'queer' or 'gender non binary' just to fit into the alphabet. Pansexual is also meaningless. If you are a heterosexual then you are only attracted to cis people of the opposite sex not trans people. If you are gay or Lesbian then you are only attracted to cis people of the same sex not trans people. I love how A Woman's Place call gender a social construct as they are gender critical and prefer to instead to refer to sex. Sonia Poulton says that gender or sex is not assigned at birth as it is observed instead.

James Dreyfuss. The voice of reason in a World (well this bit of it) is slowly going mad. When I came out in '78, I remember asking my best friend whether he "minded." I wouldn't do that now. His answer: "People either like men, or women, or both!" It all seemed so simple back then. Watching people being paraded in front of T.V. Cameras to offer apologies for things they (foolishly) said 20 years ago (which would apply to a substantial number of my generation, when casual homophobia, sexism and racism, were rife) is downright disturbing. People often misuse or overuse comparisons to Orwell, but to me, that does smack of both 1984 and Animal Farm!

So what? seen it all before I say! Like James, I spent the 80s and 90s hanging out with all sorts of people, non of this was ever an issue then. Douglas Murray rightly brought up the phase, 'St.George in retirement '. Unfortunately there are a lot of vocal narcissists who think they are the vanguard of trans rights. They missed the boat!

Wow! This old homosexual man was delighted to hear James describe OWEN JONES as 'The Establishment'! Too right he is! And IAN HISLOP; and a whole pack of those posing as 'anti-Establishment', whilst they coin it in! The acid test used to be whether the strange word (we used to use it for a 'fart'!) 'trump' could get a laugh when used: HISLOP was one of those who regularly used it; as did Owen Jones. Spot the similarity?

Dreyfus describes to the T what a dark triad is . There are a large population in the US that have been victims of a dark triad . When your reality is totally messed with , attacked by flying monkeys , and lied about and to , it’s overwhelming.

One of the reasons perhaps it seems there is less men standing up on this issue is around framing and feminism. A lot of more anti-woke men perhaps see it as a logical progression and consequence of modern 'woke' leftist feminism, whilst from that other perspective it is seen just as 'misogyny' and being the fault of men. When those two perspectives try to come together it's understandable there's a clash that can result in a 'fine, I'll leave you to it then, reap what you sow' kind of attitude.

Yes, good comment. Ihave heard/read men revelling in women ‘ getting what they deserve’ as some end point of feminist ideology.....

It’s unfortunate that many men are prepared to watch all women and girls get thrown under a bus because a minority of women who call themselves feminists have said bad things. Should women abandon supporting ALL men because a minority of men have said bad sexist things?

Conversation can be magic. The Hodge Twins talking to Zuby is an example. If you haven't seen it i beg you to watch it, I promise you will thank me. This is another example. Love this man's 'fuck you' attitude.
