Be fearful when people are greedy and be greedy when people are fearful.
And what that actually means is that if people are scared and they're selling their stocks or selling off the stock market, they're afraid that the market's going to crash and it's bringing the market down. That's actually when you say, oh, it's time to buy in. But then on the other side, like in 2021, when everybody's going absolutely mad, buying a ton of stocks, buying all the latest Bitcoin and crypto and, you know, every single stock on the planet, we've got AMC, GameStop, everything else.
You go the opposite direction and say, Oh, people are greedy. So I'm afraid and I'm going to actually maybe sell at a profit, sit on cash and wait until it gets scary again. What an interesting concept. So right over here we have something called the Fear and Greed Index. Now I've referenced this index many times in past videos, but this is created by CNN Money, and there's a couple of ways to actually calculate it.
In this video, we're going to take a look at what Investing with the Fear & Greed Index does to your money.
The Fear & Greed Index is one of the most popular ways to measure the riskiness of a stock. The Index is based on a metric called the Sharpe Ratio, which measures how well a stock is performing compared to the risks involved.

@Bob_Sharpe ~ Consider TMF for that $100 dollar investment. Its the Direxion Daily 20+ Yr Trsy Bull 3X Bond ETF. Objective is to Stock Up as the price continues drops all year long in the hopes that Uncle_Powel eventually reaches a Pause, Plateau or (best case scenario) Pivot toward lowering Interest rates. The shares are currently at $8.06 as of Thursday, 2/23/23. As per the One(1hr) chart, there are over sold indications on the RSI in combination with the golden MacD fast signal prepping to cross down through the blue smooth signal. Lower previous lines of support are set at $7.60 and $7.20. Staying primarily in cash I've set small controlled limit orders to those before mentioned support levels in an attempt to load up for when the tides turns. Maybe a stupid idea, but what if you did day trading with $5 a day. How would you buy low sell high $5 daily?

The amount you invest daily would not change; in this case would be five dollars. What would change would be the actual shares that you are buying; in these cases, they would be fractional chip shares, which would change daily, but would be added every day. What would also change would be the average cost of your buy, whether you are buying high or you are buying low.

No when people are greedy I go Soxl and people fear go Soxs .. the trend is your friend . The logic is you don’t want to miss out on the big runs when it’s trending hard day to day.

Wah-oh! We got in "Fear" REAL quick. I am taking on your challenge! Are you still doing $5 on top of the $100 on these "fear" days (so $105 total) or is the amount just $100 in market and $5 in Ether?

I’m running something similar with Bitcoin. If I were to do this with stocks I’d use vti since you already have one challenge with voo. I would also add a little extra and use SOO a 2x leverage etf when in extreme fear. Also look for a time to sell maybe a 20% trailing stop. Leverage goes against Warren Buffett 3L’s of liquor, ladies, and leverage but he is also against crypto. I think I’ll join you in the challenge but with a smaller investment amount.

I would guess the best place for that investment would be index stocks, as that likely what the F&G index is based on.

If you were to invest $100 a day, to be different from the stocks you're already buying. I'd say invest in $DVY So with my challenges related to work. $1 a day into $DVY, a penny for every case on my truck into $WEN, a penny per mile into $DIA, 10 cents per stop into $SCHD, and a penny for every minute remaining on my 14 hour clock into $VNQ. With that and my other investing, I've already increased my yearly income by $100! By the way, this is Justin/Cooking Dojo
