1. There's no items to buy, there's no lanes and there's no jungle role. 2. This game enable us for all to think about how to be creative and synergize with each other through abilities. We also can change roles and champs at any time. We won't know the other team's pick until after we encounter them. 3. This isn't Dota or League. I do not want to go back to anything reminding me of them. I rather not have any role ques. It helps players become more creative and actually think about what to do. The champs also have a secondary role to them. I love being a Strategist, yet C&D, Raccoon, Mantis, and Loki can be seen as secondary Duelists.

​@@OldHeadGamingin moba games like Dota, smite, and league of legends there are usually three lanes typically designated as top (for tank/bruiser) mid (for mage/duelist) and bot(for dps and support player) in between each of the three lanes is a jungle where pve like monsters reside that is where the jungle player spends their time they then leave the jungle when they want to help out whichever lane might be struggling (please note this is an over simplocation) In those mobas it is very rigid on roles and I agree with OP I left those games due to role rigidity and never want to experience them again. I used to love OW especially day 1 when ulyou could play any role you wanted even multiple of thr same character it made it super fun and a fun challenge to try and beat a team that decided to go 6 DVA's lol but the moment blizzard forced role que was the moment the game died for me and I left I really hope netease sticks to their guns and avoid role que. Thanks for making this video I stumbled on it and was glad to see a voice of reason in this debate

I'd agree with you but players don't get creative. They go online and get told who's strong and exclusively play those characters. It's mostly DPS players and either no tank or no supports and the dps-insta-locks are just being selfish in a team game. That's the reason people want role queue. There's no such thing as main healer and off healer but people make stuff up. Not every game with shooting mechanics needs to turn into CoD but that's what always happens. It's just not fun for people that want to work with teammates and see all roles played. Saying you can't adapt is just a self report.

Wanting a role queue has nothing to do with what OW2 does, at least for me. They built this game with tank, healers, and DPS classes so the game is going to be balanced around that. Some of the most annoying matches are the ones that are so out of whack with role selection they aren't worth playing. If they don't want people to play with the role mindset then they should've made a game without the holy trinity of roles. Just my 2 cents.

I think people are forgetting that this is a marvel game. So it's most likely that people are simply just picking characters they are fans of, so why the would they pick a healer or tank? For example. I mainly want to play as Spider man, moonknight, and venom. So if the duelist and tank are taken up I then have to play as Mantis or Rocket, two characters I'm just not interested in.

Speaking of Overwatch, remember when it actually was open? And everyone wanted to play dps and barely touch tank and support? Yeah, we’ve been through this already. Overwatch literally did this already. You don’t get to totally play what you want when it’s “open” because if your team is lacking, someone has to switch. Fact is healing is busted in MR and it’s basically throwing if you refuse to switch. It’s the illusion of choice. Sure, you can make some crazy team comps. But at what cost? Losing games? Not playing what you enjoy? It’s new right now, but metas do form in these games. People will find what tends to be most effective, be it 2/2/2, 1/3/2 etc. Even OW has both role/open queue as separate options. Players have the choice. And given the choice, role queue/lock is significantly more popular than open queue when placed side by side on the same screen. Players will wait for a match knowing they can play what they want.

People are afraid marvel rivals will become like overwatch ( as if overwatch was the worst game in the world without any good qualities and dead despite people never shutting up about it ) just because it has a role queue. Literally this is the reason people are so afraid of marvel rivals having a role queue. They act like if they implement this the game will suddenly become overwatch, it's pathetic. I personally cannot stand marvel rivals without a role queue anymore. It was fun at first but now I'm simply tired of having to play roles I don't want to. Even when I play the roles the team needs, support or tank, my job as a healer is so much easier when I'm not the only one. It's miserable being the sole healer or sole tank. There's a reason role queue is more popular on overwatch than open queue, it's that it's simply BETTER. if free queue was truly better than role queue, then nobody would play role queue on overwatch. I don't care if the matches take a while to find, I'd rather wait to have a good game experience than become trapped in a loop every 10 seconds of bad experiencies. If the game itself suggests 2 duelists 2 healers and 2 tanks they should add ways to make this composition easier to exist. It doesn't necessarily need to be 2-2-2 , but at least 2 healers and a tank. 1 healer can work but I don't think it's ideal, being the sole healer is too stressful and as soon as the other team has 2 healers you'll lose. people on overwatch get blinded by nostalgia and think the game was better some years ago because their lives were better some years ago. Launch overwatch was terrible. If it launched today everybody would complain about it. Open queue was awful and it made the game simply unplayable in the goats era.

What everyone doesn't realize is ow2 had an opportunity to do this (team power ups) it was first shown with brig n rein when they combined shields but the never acted on it they could've introduced that but marvel rivals did which gave it the leg over ow2 and the creativity that rivals has is something ow2 never took advantage of

I think the point isnt that role queue has to be only way to play the game. They could just give an option. It doesnt mean it has to be 2-2-2, as you said some heroes work like off tanks like wolverine and ironfist. There could be option for 1-1-1 and 3 flexible slots. This just would give nicer people option to go for dps for once in a while. In every game there is 1-3 guys who just insta pick dps and wont switch even if team would need something else.

My opinion is this: When you remove a player slot from a team (going from 6 to 5), you remove a lot of possible team compositions. When you force a certain type of team composition (such as 1 tank, 2 healers, 2 DPS), you remove even more possible team compositions. And with every possible team composition removed, you also remove an opportunity to shake up the meta, by creating a team composition that others haven't thought of, which can counter the current meta.

I understand what you’re saying for sure and I also understand the devs vision. However, the lack of role queue is tainting my experience in Rivals; it hasn’t been fun and majority of the time my team is filled with a bunch of brain dead gamers. Maybe role queue isn’t the direct answer we need but it’s very discouraging when the opposing team is acting as one while your team can’t even stand in a single room together for more than two seconds.

I think they should experiment with global regen. 6 dps high regen passive. 5 hlrs low (or none) regen passive. 2 hlrs medium regen passive. Because I don't want dps's to not play their favorite characters. I can think of many things that can be tried before going to role lock.

I'm personally the type of person that when I play a game with a large enough character roster I just like playing the characters I like, whether they're good, bad, op, or not even fitting my play style. So role queues would really bother me as someone who only is a big fan of a few of the characters in the game, and a couple of those characters I hate the costume designs for (mostly Spider-Man, even his MCU suit looks bulkier than it does in the movies) I don't have a PS5 so I can't play. Stuck on last gen. But I'd main Squirrel Girl because she's my favourite character in this game that has a comic accurate costume. Tho I'd at least switch to Iron Man (as long as I get his Superior costume, I don't like any of his other suits), Venom, and Jeff. Which I feel covers most of the major classes anyway. I'd also like to play the occasional game as Hulk because I find his rage form funny and I want to bully people with it. But like, and I KNOW this game is unpopular, when I play Cursed Clash, I main Sukuna. Pretty much constantly. And in game he's this beefy character with slow attack animations that hit everyone in your vicinity, including your teammate. I typically prefer medium paced characters, so running a slow character is weird to me. But I still main him because he's my favourite character in Jujutsu Kaisen, and I've mastered his timings. Squirrel Girl probably doesn't have gameplay I am used to but I'd still master her because I'm such a fan of her in the comics.

Finally some sense in this debate. I'm of the opinion that OW was balanced with the mindset of comp players. Like they were talked to about how to balance the game. It got ruined. I'm not saying the blame is on the comp players but if comp players are the once inventing things like GOATs which destroyed the game. Why in the world should the MR community listen to them? I think those comp OW players made their bed. They can go lie in it.

100% Rivals is made for you to play characters, not roles. Do I think they need to make some adjustments to make that work better? Sure, but role queue would just ruin everything the game is. I think they should consider/test a passive out of combat heal. I also think Vanguard ults should be buffed and they should add some Strategists that aren't healers. I think they really need to hammer home that Vanguard/Duelist/Strategist is NOT just a 1:1 Tank/Damage/Healer. There are overlaps but the philosophy is different, and I don't think it's as well communicated as it should be.

If 6 duelists face a 2-2-2 you will lose. You will also lose to a 1-3-2. Unbalanced teams only works in Quick Play, the minute you enter ranked you learn very quickly that QP shenanigans don't work anymore. Getting bursted down immediately with no-one to heal or shield you becomes a problem very very fast. At least once you're out of the dumb-brain metal ranks. Quick Play should remain open, but competitive needs to have limits. Not even asking for a role queue, just for a hard limit of 3 duelists max. If you're only playing this game because you "wanna be Spider-Man" then just play the Spider-Man games. If being a team player hampers your fun then maybe you shouldn't play a team-based game. Last thing is, you're skirting around the real reason DPS players don't want a role queue. Because you know your queues will be 20 minutes long since everyone wants to be Spider-Man and you don't want that to happen. It's not about creativity, or keeping the game "fun", you just don't want to have to wait to play your over-saturated role.

It's a silly debate. Only the Top 1% of players complain when the "meta" isn't perfect and they have hero bans. Team ups is a better alternative than being stuck in role queue. Lopsided games happen in Overwatch all the time it fixed nothing just made it boring, ultimately led to 5v5 and just appeased the loud minority of "hardcore" basement dwelling gamers and pros.

Exactly; adding role queue/lock systems just removes the onus of consideration from all other players to think about swapping if it's needed. I understand that people want to have healers and tanks in all of their matches, but the people who are whining for that the hardest are the one tricks that literally refuse to swap off of their favorite hero no matter what. Why would we want to reward those people in the first place? The rest of us that understand how to be flexible and swap to what is necessary would like to keep our freedom and agency; I've won plenty of games with no tanks or supports on skill difference alone, it's not impossible by any means. If I'm clearly not getting value out of a hero I'd prefer to be able to swap; some games I'm the second healer and we clearly don't need a second healer because the other one is doing amazingly well and we clearly need more DPS, so I swap and suddenly we're winning. With role lock I'd just be stuck as a support even though I can tell we need more shields or more damage because we have a spiderman that's just off on his own and our venom isn't prioritizing point. I want the freedom to assess the team myself and swap to what it needs, it's part of the game!

I cannot emphasize enough. I HATE OVERWATCH! Like a burning rage since day 1. I played for a couple hours cause my brother wanted to play it. Strongly disliked it... Right now Marvel Rivals NEEDS something. I like the suggestion Flats made. HP Regen when out of combat. If they don't do that, then role que.

Almost no one said anything about 2-2-2 either. They just want some kind of structure down the line because 5 DPS is not fun for people that aren't selfish DPS one-tricks.
