It's theocking bolt that wears, not the slot. The bolt is manufactured from softer steel design to wear so you don't have wear on the block. Simple engineering that's been used for years. I just had mine done. Like new.

It’s actually the barrels that wear. Once you have gone through all the bigger sizes available of locking bolt we actually have to weld the barrels or install bushings because the space where the locking bolt fits into got too big for the sizes. Once welded or bushings have been installed we can then go back to the original size that it came from factory.

@LetsTalkShotguns well I use an experienced Perazzi, ex London gun employed gunsmith. He states that the locking bolt is softer steel, deliberately exactly because it's simple and easier to replace that than weld the barrels. I have to disagree with you. My gun repair is evidence of it, I also took advice from Perazzi directly. They advise buying a larger size bolt and the gunsmith grinding it to fit the barrel slot. It's a very simple job. Welding barrels is not.

@@Fendermanpaul It would make more sense to me that the bolt is engineered from softer metal. Because yeah, easier to replace the locking bolt than repair the mono-block. But who knows what Italians do, they aren't exactly known for sound engineering choices.

As far as Italian guns go, the locking bolt is harder than the barrels. For example: perazzi has over 15 sizes of locking bolts. As the location where the locking bolt fits into wears, you replace it with a bigger size and fit the barrels to it. And it kind makes sense because if the locking bolt was the part that was softer, there would be no reason to make bigger sizes for it. You could just buy a new one of the size and fit right back into the spot. I will be glad to send you pictures of a used perazzi barrel and a new perazzi barrel so you can see the difference between them in the section where the locking bolt fits into.
