Beautiful insight that hits all of the experience, from all of the angles. Like you so eloquently said: everyone has a fight that matters to them and the majority of those don’t happen in the sphere of competition but in the journey of life. You did a great job of demonstrating how the training of martial arts can better prepare people for those conflicts to live a better life. Great job, Coach ☯️👊🏻 Osu 🥷⛩️

Good job, you two. You worked so hard, fought and trained to prove that you have what it takes to take on the responsibility of this new rank in that school. Well done and glad you are able to bring out so much wisdom from your years of training prior to this.

Quick question and congratulations by the way bro☯️🥋how do you really feel about a belt system tho?I mean we both know karate started off as a no belt system,I think how they decided who was a master back then was by there skill level, knowledge and the experience they had?I remember training in tkd and black belt ego is real thing,it’s like they can’t be wrong bc there a black belt, and they look down on everyone else.plus the majority of them couldn’t fight for shi..like at all…to me I think a belt can also lead to to much focus on it,the student putting themselves down bc they think that jus bc there not a black belt they can’t fight,I mean Kung Fu,boxing,Muay Thai don’t have belt systems, don’t see why we have one,the the ppl that I say have the right to have one is Judo and Jiu Jitsu😂how u feel about it?

I think a goal helps certain types of people train harder. Some people train for a fight, other people train for a rank. Some train for its own sake. Neither is better than the other, you (as the instructor) just have to know who you’re dealing with and how to best motivate them. Coming from a traditional Muay Thai gym where they DIDNT do any ranks, I can tell you the toxicity came from those who believed themselves “fighters” over those who didn’t. Even without black belt/white belt divide, people find ways to create cliques and exclude others. At the same time, having/not having ranks doesn’t guarantee fighting skill. The belt system lends itself to kids because parents want their kids to get belts and certificates, which leads to watering down of actual fighting skill, but that doesn’t HAVE to be the case. Again, it comes down to the priorities of the instructor and organization.

Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. 🙏 I'm curious what inspired the name of this martial art Bang Muay Thai? I find it interesting how they mix kyokushin , muay thai and boxing techniques.

Glad you liked it! "Bang" was Sensei Duane Ludwig's fight name. So Bang Muay Thai is MT as taught by Duane Bang Ludwig.

No. It’s a long story. Basically when I first started training in Muay Thai, it was at a Bang Muay Thai school here in my town. Eventually that gym unaffiliated and did its own thing, and I stayed with them until early last year, when I decided to open my own program. A few months into that, Tracy and I were talking and I realized the most fun, and most learning I did, was when I was doing Bang Muay Thai. We reached out to Sensei Ludwig about becoming his new affiliate in Austin, he had us fly out to test us, and bam. Now here we are
