Fabulous Tara, well done. Massive amount of research is evident. Looking forward to them all xx

This was wonderful and I can’t wait to hear more! I spent the morning with you and Google Maps working my way through Ireland with you, and as someone who’s never been to Ireland, I was amazed when I got to Ardee Castle on the map, to see it just sitting there in the middle of this town, just down from a men’s clothing store and across from some apartments and a bank. And then Hatch’s Castle, right next to the pet supply store. It's just so surreal to castles sitting in modern settings.

YES! I love hearing this Betsy, and I love that you're as impressed by all this as I am 😅 Many of us in this part of the country grew up without much knowledge of or connection to these sites that were on our doorstep. To me, it's imperative that we know and care about their stories, because they can tell us so much about ourselves and the place we live. It's odd to say we take things like medieval castles for granted, but it's easy to do without that connection.

@@DiaryofaDitchWitch I get that. I can imagine that seeing them all the time is just another part of the normal landscape. I grew up in Baltimore City where we have what's called the Inner Harbor. There's a big science center and aquarium and all kinds of other stuff. It's a place for sightseeing and if you come to Baltimore from out of state, you inevitably end up there, but living there 20 minutes away for most of my life, I think I only went there twice, and once was on a school field trip. It's kind of a big deal because it's been a major U.S. seaport since the 18th century and is quintessential to the economy of the surrounding areas, but to me it was just there. I know it's not the same as a castle but it's the closest I can come to when thinking about how it must be to live among so many landmarks like that. Anyway, this is very cool and I'm very excited for the rest. ❤

Thank you Tara. Oh what a brilliant series, i'm so looking forward to the rest of this series. I've read a ton of the older sources, and visited a lot of areas. But reading as an Englishman it's hard to understand where the locations are, and the distances, and what the landscapes are like due to the place names being unfamiliar. This video certainly made things a lot easier.

Aw that's great to hear! The whole idea of the series was to make the research more accessible for a wider range of people so we're bang on the money, so to speak 😀

Wonderful narration! I used Google maps to get visuals of this journey, as I listened along. So many lovely old ruins!

Thanks for this! I'm in the USA, so I don't know if I'll see these places in-person.
