1:57 to 2:31 really is special (especially those voices at 1:57)

I'm in shock, I found a four year old comment from FamilyJules on a Marc Papeghin video with 28 likes. These two spheres were not what I expected to cross over

I love how you do songs from these older classic movies that I loved when I was younger. Thank you

Never heard of or watched this film before, but I swear that I can hear Berlioz at the beginning of this piece. Very interesting that the algorithm could lead me all the way to this just because I had listened to Symphonie Fantastique last month.

It's totally not a coincidence, that's the Dies Irae, baby, the grandparent of all Ominous Music Themes. 👈😎👈

4:05-4:13 very nostalgic to this song 🎶 from the road to el dorado, when I was 3 years old.

So much fun collaborating with you again Marc. You outmatched the epicness of this cue! And by the way I knew you would go for that unwritten high F at 4:11 ;) I hope next time is never too far away!

Well this is an unexpected surprise! Such an underrated score from Powell (and Zimmer I guess, technically, although if you ask me most of the score has Powell fingerprints all over it). It was done a great disservice by the majority of it not being released on the album, including the first two-thirds or so of this piece, which is why I'm so surprised. Good work as always!
@Marc_Papeghin6 жыл бұрын
Very underrated indeed ! There's some really wonderful stuff in there :) As for Zimmer's input, there are a few sections like 4:23 where it definitely sounds like him ( reminds me of some of the stuff he wrote for Gladiator, which was composed the same year ! )
@LordMangudai6 жыл бұрын
Yeah true, I hadn't made the Gladiator connection before but you're right, and the progression immediately following at 4:37 is pure Zimmer as well. But the theme at 4:44 is Powell again (his typical pentatonic type of melody). All in all I'd say it's a cool mixture of both guys' styles.

Aria con varizione "Dies irae", est un nom qui convient plutôt bien à l'introduction
@chrisreid93826 жыл бұрын
Ce n'est pas une coïncidence, c'est le chant grégorien "Dies Irae" exactement. Il semble approprié... "Le son merveilleux de la trompette, se répandant sur les tombeaux, nous rassemblera au pied du trône." :D

I' ve heard the '' Dies Irae '' theme in the intro from Symphonie Fantastique , that was unexpected . John Powell , mimicks the composing style of Hanz Zimmer and makes no surprise to me that Hanz is here with him and a little of Trevor Jones style of melody writing , very interesting , the 3/4 part section melody theme .

I was looking at Atlantis, since it has brotherly under-seen and underrated ties with Treasure Planet but I couldn't immediately find something that would fit. I'll look at The Leviathan and Just D It as per the comment below! I can't promise anything on behalf of Marc though :)
