🇲🇲 My journey across Burma continued with a road trip to the mystical Asian city of Mandalay. A city whose name conjures up images of the Orient. But first I had to buy a bus ticket...

@@kyawthet2135 Yeah, exactly. I thought Bald was being rude there, the monk was trying to help him find the right money and Bald called him a greedy little bugger. Just a friendly banter, but the monk knew some English but not enough to understand British sense of humour, so I think perhaps not the best call. I can still understand Bald though, when you're abroad and you're dealing with a foreign currency then you always have to be alert. Better to be suspiscious of others one time too many than to be ripped off one time too many. But the truth is the taxi driver probably gave a normal price because he didn't want to look bad in front of a monk. I know this from traveling in Thailand, they have some serious respect for the monks.

@@simpleguy38 "Indians" aren't the issue it's successive governments who would rather continue to re-distribute India's wealth to the very richest rather than distrubute the wealth to radically modernize and develop India's entire infrastructure, culture and economy. India was arguably better off economically than Japan, China, South Korea in the year 1700. But subsequent wars left them depleted and all the great minds killed. India drastically needs a post-second world war Japanese style national awakening to drastically change the entire nation. Indians are still too concerned with themselves rather than their community as a whole. And until that changes, India will continue to lag behind.

If people attempt to scam him multiple times within a few days of arrival, then you can pass whatever judgement you'd like on the country as a whole, especially if you plan to visit. It's more true in smaller, more homogeneous countries like this. Last time i was in thailand, i felt very safe and none of the LOCALS tried scamming, the only scammers there were Indians and other foreigners. It seems to me that scamming and dishonesty CAN be a product of a country's culture, seeing as it's clearly more prevalent in some cultures than others.

Actually it's crazy. In the media all we can see is that such countries are extremely dangerous, never go there, you get killed in seconds, everyone is bad etc... After having watched numerous videos of B&B I have to say that my perspective totally changed. I wanna travel to these countries ones. The kindness and curiousity they have is so lovely really.
@williamduke17562 жыл бұрын
What kind of media do you consume lol? I've never heard somebody say that you get killed instantly in India or Myanmar or that everyone is bad there.

Hey, I've been binging on your videos for a few months now. Unlike other people I really wanted you to come down to Bengal, or Calcutta. I would really like it if you do. It'll be a pleasure for me to take you around town. It's really one of the most beautiful cities in the country. Keep up the good work, great vlogs. We can definitely meet up for some king feemer.

Like in Sumatra, Indonesia. It's common to get a table with many options and you just eat what you want. And of course you pay according to what you ate.

All very inspiring stuff reminds me of when I travelled around India (wasn't able to get to Burma back then!). I often wonder how much these places have changed in the last twenty-five years since my last visit? One thing I did notice was that friendly people are still very much in evidence, great countries with some great people. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful travel adventures - best I've seen so far!
