I brought my Vintage Off Road Wrecker all the way from Iowa to Sand Hollow in Utah for the Matt's Off Road Off Road Games Wrecker Pull and the trip didn't go exactly as planned but I made it just in time to get everything staged for the events.

So glad you made it Steve. Improvisation is the name of the game on the side of the road wherever you are in the world! I hope the storm doesn't spoil the games. Allways check the lugs .. when you check the tire pressure.. as you fuel up All it takes is a min .. the life you save might be your own.. I mean yikes..loosing your tires is one thing your wheels another and the entire rig and cargo and life another.. .. check check and recheck .. never cost anything but a little time.. giving you piece of mind is gold..

Not to mention the life(s) that could be lost by a high-speed, heavy wheel/tire bounding into oncoming traffic - at night! Steve

All you really need to do is stop using the impact gun instead of a torque wrench. If you are rotating your tires every 10k or so and using a torque wrench this is not going to happen and there is no need to check them until the next rotation.

I've been hauling for 4 decades check them a lot if your hauling.. You can check the drive shaft every rotation .. but check the wheels and tires all the time including the lugs .. what else can leave you 3 wheeling .. better safe then sorry

A note about camera panning, slow down a bit, it's not a race 😂. You need a high frame rate for that to actually work.

I'm curious as to how well diesel power works because we could not talk Matt into a 12-valve. Last year in the wrecker games guess what won. Matt clams the off-road games this year so everyone can participate but I think he just didn't want to lose again to a diesel

You do not want aggressive tread on the sand, you want to stay on top. If you can find some, try some racing slicks just for shits and giggles.

The tyres on the orange buggy are normally mounted with tread going the other way. What benefits have you found by mounting them like this?

When you hit a rock or log it centers you on the rock instead of pushing you off it.

Why do you have the traction lug tires mounted backwards on the orange unit? They will have reduced traction moving forward mounted like that. Impressive traction in reverse though!

On a tractor you want objects to move to the side when off-roading you want your tire to center you on obstacles not push you off them.

Holy Cow, that must have been exciting when the wheel fell off. I used to wheel down at MIOBI land in a green 4runner. Tell Ron that Dingman said hello. I'm looking forward to more vids from this trip - good luck with it all. EDIT: Jeesh, talk about sandblasting all those trucks.

@@misfittoys8883 I quit wheeling. Not really intentionally but my co-pilot Pat got cancer and died. I'd been wheeling with him for so long, it was just depressing and so I parked the rig and then just never got it down for wheeling again. After a few years, I hated seeing it sit and rot, so I sold it - that's an interesting story. But ya, so I have other hobbies now (le$$ expensive) and in fact, retired from Siemens just over a year ago. I'm glad to see some vids from MIOBI land, I wondered why I wasn't seeing much. And I've never seen my old rig anywhere, I have no idea where it went after I sold it (the guy ghosted me).

I've never heard of you guys I happen to catch your video because of the #offroad recoverygames. I'm in Iowa too I didn't know you guys existed I'm going to subscribe thanks for the behind the scenes video this is cool I love this so many cool trucks and vehicles coming together Good luck guys I don't know what you're doing but your equipment looks badass
