I don't get all the hate for Eli, he was stronger and more consistent in all three rounds actually. I think people just want the underdog to win at this point. Paul was great and he has improved a lot over the years but Eli clearly won. The only person who might have beaten Eli was Dina, would like to see a rematch of those two.

Dinas personality gives her the upper hand in roasting but also burries her as a potentional champ. They will never let her for example sit on the judges table or walking around as the champ. But for me she is the best roaster.

I have figured out why Eli always likes to go second. It gives him the opportunity to go for comebacks and then a joke after in case his comeback doesn't land well enough. You can see that at 4:50 or so as he was about to use a joke after the comeback but realized he didn't need to. It also allows him to get the last word in, which I am sure has some kind of psychological effect on the viewers and judges. I don't want to call it cheating, but it is definitely a cheap tactics.

I wanted to be surprised based on the comments here, but Eli won this one clearly, especially in the third round. Eli had a few more bombs than normal, but he still had some killer lines and nothing Paul said really felt strong. I think the judges collectively got both the first and second rounds wrong, so it didn't matter and they got it right in the end, but wow...terrible decisions.

It's weird to me that with Eli's rise to the RB championship and beyond, including the west coast unification and a hefty load of defenses. I've seen two flubs, the Dana Hashem bout and now this one. With the Dina one I thought she deserved the first round and never got a fair shake due to shitty overcrowded judging from inebriated comedians who can barely maintain 30 seconds of focus, with a splash of bias on the side. And what I get from this battle is Hooper had a 2 round sweep and no one gave him his due for the 2nd round, which would've negated the 3rd round all together.

It's kind of interesting watching this channel for long enough to see the progress people made. I remember when people used to see Paul and say, "You're so funny in standup, but when you roast you have these hugely long monologues you do and they just don't hit." He's gotten so concise and punchy while still having the same cleverness and edge. I'm really proud of him. Eli did fine in the third round but in my book it wouldn't have gotten that far because Paul took the first two. I also think Dina beat Eli before, though, so what do I know? If it's not just a joke and he really needs to keep winning to stay sane/healthy, there are worse things in the world.

I agree, Vincent. I've been watching for the past 2 years or so. Paul has improved a lot. Dina did beat Eli. And I miss the days of Evan Williams and Eric Bergstrom. If you haven't seen Eli vs. Eric, look it up. Round 2 from Eric is still one of my favorite sets in Roastmasters history.

Paul definitely made huge progress in roasting but I'll have to admit that Eli was just more consistent overall and definitely stronger in the last round ...so I agree with the judges. First Paul, second was pretty close but Eli edged it out, third definitely Eli = 2:1 for Eli, long live the champ

After Mike complimented Eli on making his material sound spontaneous, it was weird to hear Eli rattling out the second round so dispassionately like he's giving a monotone book report before class he's just wants to get over with. Paul deserved to win this, but then it wasn't nearly as big a judging failure as when they gave it to Eli over Dina or Eric.

Let's get something straight b/c the host of this trainwreck needs to lie thru his teeth everytime Eli's on-stage. Eli didn't dominate every LA comic when he went out West. He didn't even make the TV cut, it was a Comedy Central Facebook bit for 8 minutes. He hurled miscarriage jokes at his opponent...which 2 of them in a row completely bombed. He lost 2-1 only b/c 1 judge felt he was smart for sticking with his "way to win". Can't be the greatest Roaster ever, if you can't make a national TV special...or win to begin with.
