Bro, Nick Mira was not thinking all of this when making the melody, it is all made by ear, thank you for the short.

@@patricksimmons8117 Nick doesn’t even use the terminology 4-1 he uses these things called “chord codes” which is basically a watered down music theory, so no I doubt he was thinking about all this but he knew how to stay in key

@@camdengraves1442 he could be saying chord codes to make it understandable to the general audience (which I think is actually dumb but that doesn't matter) He has to know why the "chord codes" work at least

Let me know if I'm wrong music theorist. Just had the light bulbs in my head, thanks to this short, as if the self study I have been working on was meant to clear now. So the numbered progressions, are the notes of a scale playing chords right? Is that right? And then you can make them major minor deminish etc... Am I close enough? Pls let me know.

from what i can tell, yes you have it right... for example, a 1 chord in D would be D, whereas the 4 chord is G. technically though, they're written as roman numerals (I or IV, etc.) to help keep clarity.

Cool short, but the IV chord does in fact have a decent pull to resolution (the plagal cadence is IV - I... it wouldn't exist as one of the premier cadences if it didn't have a strong sense of resolution)

this is useful but you’re really misleading people saying “it works because of this chord progression” the chord progression doesn’t matter if the mix, sound selection or even tempo is wrong.

@@Dom-zy1qy that would be a good reason but have you seen the chord progressions of the songs he’s describing? they have two chords, are you really telling me that’s the “key” to a good beat?😂 i’m not hating it’s good advice, but there are beat breakdowns with complex melodies which are the entire substance of the song, and breaking down a 1-4 chord is not one of them. that’s bare minimum music theory
