You did really good job :) This is so similar to their rare version of Robots in 1990, the members are Ralf, Karl, Friz and Florian.

I think when KW played these long experimental versions of classic tracks in 1990 they were really into something special. This recreated/cover version is one of my favourites ever. Can’t not get a bit goosebumpy when the main lick comes in 😄 sounds like someone had a different setting on the backing synth for the third verse (just as it was on the original teatro recording!) fantastic work Andrew, one of my favourites of yours.

I like the vocals better in this cover rather than the ‘78 version. It sounds more like “The Mix” than “The Mix”!

This is the best The robots remix i've ever heard! i especially love your replication of the main bassline and the origial singing. I actually wanted to ask which synth did you use for the main bassline? And how did you manage to get the original vocals? I've tried lots and lots of ways to extract the vocals from the song but i could never get a result amazing like this!
@AndrewShawMusik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The main bassline was created using Monark, a Minimoog plugin for Native Instruments' Reaktor. For the vocals I isolated them from the 5.1 Surround Sound version of Minimum-Maximum, however I have now got a functioning Votrax SC-02 speech synthesizer which is the same as what Kraftwerk have, so I can now generate my own!

@@AndrewShawMusik Thank you so much for your answer! It was really helpfull! And im hoping to see more of your amazing kraftwerk covers!

@@AndrewShawMusik Regarding the Votrax SC 02. I have looked around and i found no place where i could get one. Also sadly i wouldn’t even be able to purchase one as right now my only income is my monthly allowance. And thats why i wanted to ask you for help. As i am working on a remix of The Robots too, i wanted to ask you (since you can recreate the vocals to be exactly like the original with the Votrax SC 02) if you could help me out and somehow send me only the vocals for The Robots in an mp3 or Wav file. It would be a lot of help and i would really appreciate it. But of course if you can’t do it or if you decide that you don’t want to, i will absolutely take no for an answer.

Magnificent work! I have a little question to you: you wrote in other comments that you used 5.1 surround sound from Minimum-Maximum to isolate vocals. My question is: which program did you use to do it and where how did you get the surround sound? I know it's maybe stupid question but I struggle to do it myself and your work here is just awesome! Would be grateful for your answer:)

Where did you get the drums from? This is bloody brilliant. I really enjoyed those 1990 concerts

Excellent as always ! Sorry if it was already asked, but what are you using for the robovox voices ? VST ? Synth ?
@AndrewShawMusik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This song was done using samples of the real vocals, but I now have a working Votrax SC-02 speech synthesizer that I use. This is the same speech synthesizer that Florian used for this track.

Does anyone else think Rammstein may have ripped this off a little bit when they were making Du Hast? Because the synth line sounds basically identical except this synth has less reverb.

Yes! It is making the saw patch that you can hear from 1:48 onwards. It's a very powerful synthesizer, and I still don't fully understand it!
