For those of you saying it looks too uncanny, this is actually exactly how it looked in the live performances at the time. He even nailed the exact robot movements 😁

I would love to see Kraftwerk bringing back the 1978-ish Robots live. I think it would sound kinda like this. Excellent interpretation !

That's a fair point. I also don't think the lighting is right in this. I was finding it hard to set the whole scene up!

Kraftwerk may have a bit of uncanny feeling but they're using sounds and noises that'll make you vibing more and more so they're mixing that uncanny feeling into music and art

@@AndrewShawMusik in fairness, you nailed every movement of the robots from the live performance. I just saw the original live footage of this, it looks just like it. Although they played the 1991 version of the song in that concert.

Woah dude, this is absolutely awesome. The video is great too, like if the robot 'members' of the band replaced their human counterparts and went touring forever (you know, inmortal machines) that would be epic. Imagine Kraftwerk now made only by robots and using AI to compose stuff like the Kling Klang Machine app.

This is actually how kraftwerk performed the song during the 90s up to the mid 2000s.

Are the closed Laptops a reference to the 2006 concert where Florian had closed his laptop? If yes, so, it was totally cool! Great job at all! Impressive!

It's definitely interesting that you went with the 1990 vocoder instead of the kind they used in 78. It gives it a really interesting sound.

The vocals sound like the Votrax from the 1990 version! (Possibly a SC-01 in 1990, even though this is the SC-02)

Hey! I love this! Top tier! Can you please explain to me how you did the robots? Is it a 3d animation? I would really like to learn. Have a nice day 🥰
@AndrewShawMusik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I started off by modelling each of the robot heads using scanned photos from the 3-D Catalogue photobook as a reference. I then modelled the rest of the robots purely by eye, and once all the assets were modelled you need to rig them. There are plenty of tutorials out there that should help. I then did a quick model of the Minimum-Maximum era stage, and created a backdrop in after effects to be used as a video texture in Blender. I added rotational keyframes for each limb of the robots, syncing them up with the music. Finally I added keyframes for the camera to change position, rotation, and focal length. It was a very long process! I'm still not all that familiar with Blender, but with enough time you can make some great looking stuff.
