Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones and childhood friend and noted Jazz bass player Dave Green have put together the ABC&D of Boogie Woogie with Axel Zwingenberger on piano and Ben Waters on piano and vocals and they talk about their 2012 June release Live In Paris, music they listened to growing up, The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary plans for 2012, ABC&D's plans for the future and the supposed rivalry between The Stones and The Beatles.

Every interview with Charlie Watts an example of modesty, humility and gentlemanly behaviour. Genuine class.

Charlie Watts. Perfect gentleman. Polite, down to earth, no frills, no ego problems, no fuss, no showmanship, but speaks volumes! He can walk into a room and say nothing, his presence is enough. God bless you Charlie and thank you!

" it's not rocket science, you just have to listen to each other" Charlie typically straight to the heart of the matter!! So many younger musicians should take heed haha.

Charlie is the unsung hero of the Stones who has been the sheet anchor of their band that holds it all together. He is one of the most under rated and unappreciated drummers in all of music. What a great guy !! What a great musician .

Watts is much more talkative and enthusiastic in this interview, about this music, than he's in most (all?) interviews concerning the Stones.

Believe it or not, Charlie's first love is jazz. He is a fantastic musician and made a pretty fair living with the Rolling Stones.

Charlie could just as well have been a great accountant, listening to him and not knowing where he's been. The very finest drummer in ALL of Rock!

Ha! How sweet! Question: How long have you known each other? Dave: " All my life..." How unique to be friends/rhythm section partners for ....how many years???? And STILL friends... I think good drummers and good bass players are probably/usually the best musicians in the house. Thanks a million for posting. Ya gotta LOVE these two music nerds. I do.

I loves me some Charlie Watts. Of course his first love has always been jazz but rock 'n roll/Rolling Stones paid the bills for him and his longtime wife Shirley. Won't make much money playing jazz. I don't know if he still does but in his younger days he liked antique guns. Blues fan summed him up well in his comment below. My favorite Stone.

Spot Charlie's lips moving as he reads the cue cards at the beginning ' I'm Dave Green' etc.... ! Without him the Stones would only have lasted the predicted 'year or two' when they started!

The guy on the left didn't hang out with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger for 50 years. And Charlie's older than both of them. He's an English gentleman who got mixed up with maybe the baddest crowd ever, musically.

Watts on his band: "...I'm really not into all that, at all; it's just not for me..." Uh-Huh. That's basically it, same olde stick-out-me-tongue response to all the wankers... totally professional, distinctive, a virtuoso. Kindly expect retirement when drumsticks removed from cold, dead fingers. "Popular drummer leaves entire estate & royalties to beloved dogs." Ha-rumph.
