@SJ-ty5rw The Stones didn't tour with any backing vocalists until at least the late '80's, twenty years after the song was recorded. Before that it was only a piano, occasional keyboard, sax or a horn section (in 1972) that was added to their tours. Ry Cooder played on a couple of Stones tracks in 1969 as well and he never played live with them either. Plus it wasn't like she was a member of the band or a co-writer on the song or anything, she just sang on the session for the song. I would have been more surprised if she had toured with them, especially back then.

You want to be blown away, from LIsa, react to "How can I Ease the pain Live in Japan" She will be your all time favorite female vocalist of all time when you hear her sing. No Autotune, period end of sentence. She was a solo artist for a short period of time after singing backup with Tina Turner, Luther Vandross, the Stones, Sting and many others. Then she recorded her debut album and tied for a grammy with Patti Labelle in the early 90s, with the song above I just mentioned. After that she decided to go back to singing background as she was more comfortable with that. Then you must watch the Documentary, "20 Feet from Stardom" It is about the black background singers that gave the flavor to the Rock and Roll music, especially coming out of Britain. The British rock groups loved the Blues that came out of America and tried to imitate it but could not quite get the soul needed so they would hire black backup singers to give them that seasoning. Lisa,, in the documentary, is considered the one who owns that space and can name her price. After the success of the documentary she retired from singing with the stones and now goes on her own solo tours with her band singing in small venues. She has made quite a comfortable career as a backup singer and now back to making a living with her own band.

Hey Maddie, back in the Stones earliest days when they were still playing clubs,, Tina Turner was a guest in the audience. It is said she liked the band, but noted that Mick Jagger couldn't dance. She took it on herself to work with Jagger and teach him some moves, and his signature style is owed to the great Tina Turner (may she know eternal happiness in Heaven). 😇😞😉

I’ve just discovered MaddyReactions in the last few days. Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow was my first listen (fantastic, thank you). YT served up Gimme Shelter to me tonight. It was an easy decision to subscribe. Having seen the Stones 16 times from 1989-2019 I knew this song and this version were great. Lisa really killed it live for about 30 years touring with them. “Monkey Man” is another live song she has a big part in and slays it. Here is what I know about you already Maddy: if someone asks you how much something costs, your answer should be “rapt attention.” Because that is what you consistently pay. My favorite YT reactors have something in common - they are good listeners - you are definitely that. Thanks for what you are doing with your channel. The studio recording with Merry’s crack in her voice always brings a lump to my throat. She miscarried a day or two later. She had both legs amputated after a car crash in 2014. Lots of us still consider that little hitch in her voice to be such a link to the rawness of what music once was.

Mick and Keith are the only two original members left since Charlie sadly passed away two years ago. Mick and Keith first met at school in 1950 and they lost contact for some time when Mick's family moved to another town. They met again on a platform at Dartford Railway Station in 1961 (there is a plaque on the platform to commemorate the momentous event) and formed the band in 1962. They have had a bit of success in the 61 years since then.

Strictly speaking they were originally the Rollin' Stones and by the time they were considered a stable band lineup with the name Rolling Stones both Watts and Wyman were in the lineup so arguably we're both right. :)
@JohnHF1957 Жыл бұрын
@@chilidog51 "Strictly speaking" an apostrophe in place of a g is neither here nor there. Many people don't specifically pronounce the "g" when they say the word "rolling", so there is no difference really. It comes from a Muddy Waters song and the meaning is the same with or without the "g". The original line up first played in July 1962, Wyman didn't join until December 1962 and Watts joined in January 1963. The "g" wasn't officially added until after Andrew Oldham became their manager in May 1963. So, neither Wyman or Watts were part of the original line up.
