Dad was a concert pianist, was dying of pancreatic cancer... he would have his bad days and he kept asking me angrily… “Are you going to the Rolling Stones concert?“ I kept telling him ... no dad, I’m not going to leave you alone. I’m an oboist still, guitar too... I didn’t think I’d get very good on guitar but dad kept telling me to learn my 5 7th chords. 3:30 - 4:30 The shortest and best minute of the night. Shoulda let Taylor just play on for another five minutes. Man that was sounding sweet! I remember loving the early 70s Stones because of their distinct guitar parts, and MT's blistering solos. But since Woody joined up w/ Keith, (and I'm a big fan of Faces era Woody) there hasn't been a whole lot of really good, solid guitar, other than a few catchy riffs here and there. On a side note, it appears that Mick T's amp wasn't working in time for the first solo, so he expertly passed it to Ron Wood, who actually managed a decent slide part on it.

When Ronnie was heavy into free basing in 1980 1981, they should of begged Mick Taylor to come back and give him the song writing credit he deserves. When Mick T. left the only real decent album the stones came out with was " Some Girls" , and that was out of Fear of being irrevelant. Tattoo You was a good album but it was all recycled early 1970 songs with Mick T. . Uner Cover had its moments but the Stones spent 1983 t0 1988 fighting , Mick Jagger putting out two forgettable solo albums, and their group albums have been lame compared to what they use to do. Had Mick Taylor been playing with them from 1981 to the present MAGIC would of happened, but Keith Richards is jealous and kept the Ronnie.. *Yup, Jagger ruins what could have been a decent version, but basically tells Mick Taylor his time in the spotlight is done right at that time mark, I've said it a million times, bring back Mick Taylor for a tour of small theaters and call it a day....I first saw them in 89 in Canada and thought it was so so (The band later owned up to using pre recorded parts to "Add the original sounds " to the songs played) , seen them 4 times after ,the last being in 2002,all of the shows we're pretty much of the band running through the motions,Keith solo concert at Boston's Orpheum Theatre was fantastic (In my top ten greatest concert list)....That's just a humble opinion of a life long fan, 1978 to me was the last great Tour they ever did....Edit:Looking back, the 2002? show in Boston was pretty good as they had a mini stage for a few songs with just the core of the band playing not 7-12 additional musicians on stage,I wish I saw the Toronto club and the Boston Orpheum concerts circa 2005 as the bootlegs sound like the band I grew up on but I wouldn't pay big money to ever see them again unless Mick Taylor is on guitar and Ron Wood on Bass..*

@@eddiecoyle9152 Nothing can bring back the past. Taylor left and this period is finished. They're all like puppets on scene playing their role - no surprise, no pleasure. Even if Taylor's back, the others woundln't be here as they were.I don't know Orpheum Theatre (in 1978?) I recommend you "some girls Live in Texas 78" concert. 1st it's veeery hot concert with the lineup at the top. 2nd it's the best filmed ever. The reason ? a lot of shoots has been taken lower than the scene height - from where the spectator see gigs. Immersion guaranted ! My heart has still a preference for 1982 tour specially Paris - i was there :-) And it was more than a concert - a life experience. 13 hours ! 4 bands ! Hot sun ! and 4 kilos lost ... but i didn't have any grease to lose. :-) But the filmed tour was very disappoiting as the music was. I guess Stones must be seen in gig not in videos - and near the scene. Possible when "Gold placements" didn't exist ;-((

@@eddiecoyle9152 Saw then in '72 and they were amazing. Saw them in '97 and it was like a Vegas show going through the motions.

@@chevaliermichel2219*Texas 78 sure was a great one, a buddy of mine saw them numerous times in the 60s & 72 but he has told me seeing them at n.y.c Palladian 78 was absolutely incredible as he was right up front for the concert*

I lived for The Stones, but they jumped the shark decades ago. It's embarrassing to hear them play at this point. And, I thought they were very dismissive to MT while he was on stage. Just going through the motions. No love, no hugs, zero emotion. Rolling Stones, please go away and this was 2013. Must have gotten worse since then.

Mick Taylor was just so magical guitar player with the Stones. The Stones recorded their best albums with Mick Taylor. One of the best guitar players ever but his career after the Stones hasn't been very successful for some reason. Maybe too modest person? I don't really know.

It does not matter which guitarist you take, there are not many who can play as nice solos as Taylor. But Jagger is holding Taylor back here in the song and having a hard time listening to this?

I have seen a comment from one person who said that Mick tended to noodle on and on and the band had to just go back into the song and Mick didn’t even notice.
