The Stones story is almost unbelievable ! And this interview was 22 years ago. Charlie is gone but the band is currently on tour, again! I am in awe of The Rolling Stones and hope they can keep it together another five years!!

Saw them 3 times. Tattoo You Tour 1981, Steel Wheels Tour 1989 and No Security Tour 1999. Also Keith solo on his Main Offender Tour 1993. Charlie Watts always received the loudest and longest ovations when Mick was introducing the band. RIP & GodSpeed Charlie!

I had read that Keith was the go to man when the Stones had a problem. After seeing this between he and Mick, It is clearly true.

Well the National Enquirer is good reading. I have no idea what you mean by go-to man butttttttttttttt,,,,, Jagger and Richards (also known as " The Glimmer Twins " have been a team since day one. You also had Charlie Watts,,,,, all of them made decisions and called shots.

It's Mick who to goes to Ron and help him to stop not Keith and once Charlie said that Mick is always there when you're in trouble. Just Mick is very discret on those subjects.

Keef's not only cool, but has a great and sometimes self-deprecating SOH. I've lived in the NYC area for about 30 years, and I recall one of the local radio-station DJs sharing a great story about a "Keith Richards autographed guitar giveaway" contest when the Stones rolled through the area during one of their '90s tours. So at the award event (I think it was sponsored by WNEW and Sam Ash or 48th Street Guitars), Keith was there to autograph the guitar in person. After he signed the instrument, he said to the lucky winner while handing it to him, "well, that just devalued it by at _least_ a few hundred" 😄🤣

When Jagger says to Ed Bradley he might need a prompt to remember what town he’s in, he’s not being humorous about his age. I’ve seen many videos of live stones performances where there is a sign taped flat to the front of the stage with the name of the town they’re in. When you travel the world so extensively, and mainly exist is hotels and stadiums, they all start to blend one into the other.

Inteiewer: ---What were you doing before you joined? ( the band) Brian--- *"Well just sort of bumming around, waiting for something to happen , really* *I had quite a few jobs and I was trying to get a band going, but it was unsuccessful until I met up with Mick and Keith and then ...well THAT was a successful band."* Brian seems to indicate here that he felt that Mick and Keith had a successful band when he "met up" with them. That would explain why he wanted to join them. The line up on stage at the Marquee indicates that he did join them because he and ian were there and the band he "met up with",remained intact.

What would've been the point ? Brian Jones' and Meredith Hunter's deaths were both undoubtedly tragic. But neither Mick nor Keith were directly responsible for either one, and no amount of talking about them will bring those men back to life regardless. As a former journalist myself, I can tell you that no reporter who values his job is going to dredge up painful subjects from 52 years in the past (33 years even at the time of this interview) -- esp when they have no bearing on the present.
