I think Ringo Starr is on the upcoming Stones album as well, so this might be very interesting. But as Mick and Keith said. John Lennon and Paul McCartney sang background vocals on "We love you" so this is not the first time the Beatles and the Stones are working together. Mick was there when the Beatles recorded "All you need is love" as well, so they have a history of working together. The media tried to make it out as if it was a feud between The Beatles and The Stones. There never was. They were always friendly and they still are. I am a huge fan of both bands, and i`ve been lucky enough to see The Stones and Paul McCartney live. Both great live acts. Paul is going on a sold out stadium tour this winter, and last year he headlined Glastonbury and did a fantastic show there. Ronnie Wood has even joined Paul on stage and played with Paul on a couple of times.I am not surprised to see that Paul and Ringo is playing on an Stones album. They`re all friends, and they belong to the same generation. It`s going to be fun. Ringo is one hell of a drummer, and Paul is an amazing bass player.

Well there might have been sometimes a competition for example in 1967 when their album covers were very much alike and Lennon has said some mean words through the years about Jagger and Stones. Still they never had any big conflicts or anything like that.

@@attetamminen remember the sgt peppers and satanic majesties LP covers were photographed by the same guy.. the late Michael cooper..both really great lps... satanic majesties was much maligned.. but it was actually a damn good LP and it may have copied sgt peppers in style but the music is way different... Lennon really liked the stones and respected them but he had a temper and was using drugs heavily when he was interviewed and asked about them... he directed his anger at jagger in response to perceived slights .. He felt that jagger Said some tarty things about the Beatles but I don't remember jagger doing that

Charlie have them a distinct sound ask any drummer. Ringo too. Listen to the beginning of Ticket to Ride. Make no mistake a drummer is the engine behind a rock band and all the best have their own sound. Bonzo. Moon. Baker. Mike Shreve. Mitch Mitchell Stewart Copeland. Clem Bourke. The list goes on

Back in the 70's, a friend of mine referred to them as the "Moaning Bones." Never passing up a chance to chide or belittle the group, suggesting at one point that the Zappa tune, "Torture never Stops," was about them, the chorus line, "and the stones keep chokin' deep and greenish drops," clearly echoed his sentiment.
