We got married at the Stones concert just before the show and during their most recent US tour. The crowd was cheering us on. It was incredible. The band got word from a friend of Steve Jordan who was standing near us that we had just tied the knot. About 5 mins later, stage hands came to front of the stage and waived us forward. They said, “Steve used these drum sticks during rehearsal and wants you to have them.” About 2 minutes later, other stage hands waived us forward again and handed us guitar picks and said, “Ronnie says congratulations and gave these to you.” Immense generosity and class from both of these great and legendary musicians and something we cherish every day.

Ronnie also deserves accolades for his solo career as well as work with Jeff Beck playing bass, guitar on Rod Stewart solo albums & of course with the Faces!

Between the Faces, Rod Stewart & the Stones. Ron Wood may hold some kind of record as the lead guitarist on the greatest number of Iconic songs.

His musical demeanor was showcased on the Jeff Beck records. Though all the other players were really tip top, Ronnie made them all sound better than they were, not to mention the end of 'Spanish Boots.' Oooodles of talent, always serving the tune.

Ronnie was much more exciting as a bassist with the original Jeff Beck Group. Go listen to the albums 'Truth' and 'Beck-Ola' (all except 'Beck's Bolero' on 'Truth', which has John Paul Jones on the bass). Listen to Beck's version of 'Shapes of Things', a tune he had done with the Yardbirds. Try also 'Spanish Boots', 'Plynth'. and two heavied up Elvis covers, 'All Shook Up' and 'Jailhouse Rock'. Not only will you hear a great band with Rod Stewart on vocals, you will hearwhat was essentially the template for Led Zeppelin...who had the same manager as Beck (Peter Grant) and would often see Beck and his band in action. Indeed, Zep's first tour of North America had been booked for Beck after his debut trip was such a success...but he opted not to do the followup, so Gant gave it to Becks friend Jimmy Page...and Zep stole Beck's thunder. But Ronnie is a killer bassist on those two albums. Great playing, great sound.

Ronnie Wood, what a legend. and how great does he look.. despite the early years of the 'rock and rock and roll lifestyle'. Well done Jimmy for being so gracious (and knowledgeable). All the best to you from London.

Yeah he’s great. Been a Stones fan since 1967. I also liked him in the Faces. A wild band. I think he was at a party at Robert Stigwoods when Mick Taylor told Mick Jagger he was leaving. Apparently Woody was right there and piped up he’d like to join. He’d been jamming with Keith in the New Barbarians so it was an easy Segway. Also they did the ‘guitar weave’ like Keith and Brian did. Rather than a totally separate lead riff. And Rod Stewart wanted to go solo so the Faces were breaking up. Woody brought Ian Mcglagan along on keyboards from the Faces.

For me you hear the real Ronnie when he was in the faces.....I love the stones....and the work he does with Keith..but I loved the stuff he did with Ronnie Lane.. just as much...Ronnie back in those early days...didn't just look cool....he had a wicked laid back ..bluesy ...amazing slide work...very gritty ...but soulful....not to flashy ..just the right notes in the right places....he is very underrated in my eyes..

I met Ronnie around 20 years ago at his house in Kingston S.W. London ( I was a motorcycle courier picking something up to take into town. He was having trouble controlling the dogs inside the house so he could answer the door. I had no idea I was picking up a job from him but when he eventually managed to come out sans dogs 😂 he said"F*cking hell mate, sorry about the dogs the missus loves them but they can be a pain in the arse!'. I just stood there gobsmacked and 'Don't worry about that it's a pleasure to meet you'. He was possibly the coolest person Iet doing that job who was A list famous and I met a few. Absolutely lovely down to earth bloke and a complete rock 'n' roll legend. P.S. I met Joan Collins on another occasion and she was delightful too. Anyway I'll stop dropping names and shut up now 😊x.
