For the non-Brits watching this (any Brit worth their salt should know this programme is an institution!) Jools Holland (Host) is an accomplished pianist and was a member of the band Squeeze. This is an important music programme, he/ producers really did want a bit of everything in terms of genre. The show's format would be several acts set up in a broad circle around the studio and they would take in turns to play a song and then be interviewed. It was a feast, the next band after this could well be Bjork or a solo vocal artist. He's had some very big names on here and there's invariably notable faces in the crowd.
