In this video, I go for a drive in the lesser seen Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. I talk about it's complicated history, how it stacks up to it's predecessors and mention the Bentley Turbo R, LOTS. #rollsroyce #cars

Watching this back, I feel like I was a little Harsh on the Shadow and Spirit. They’re still lovely cars that I enjoy seeing out and about! Early Shadow’s certainly have something about them!

I agree with you. I'm normally more of a Bentley man. And I think the new Rolls' are, indeed, a bit new money. But there's something about the Seraph that's just...right. I think I actually prefer it over the Arnage, too.

Great review - enjoyable history lesson too! Still a Bentley man though…

Great video and a very comprehensive overview of the interesting history behind these two brands… I knew bits of the story but not all the detail that you’ve provided. Thank you for sharing! :))

😊 Although I myself are lucky enough to own this vehicle, a 1999 example. And a lovely car to drive. I still prefer the previous model, the Silver Spirit. Mine being a last of line mark IV example, with that old-school wonderful V.8 engine......

Last of Line Silver Spirit/ Spur and Early Shadow’s escape my criticism! Thanks for watching 👍

No mention of the Arnage/Seraph with the 6750 engine, for me, the last real Bentley/Rolls Royce

I’ve owned 15 Rolls-Royce’s including a Silver Seraph. These are great driving cars and they are seriously underrated by the pundits.

Excellent review and history summary. I can't agree on the looks though - I just think there is something so wrong about the front side lights and also the rear lights. I do completely agree the Turbo RT is the one to have though. I would be interested on your view of the ride quality of the Seraph compared to the Shadow and Spirit/Spur. Given a Royce is for wafting along, that matters more than road holding or handling. Especially given the quality of our British roads.

Thanks for the kind words! I’ll see if I can pull some strings and get a few more Crewe cars on soon. I think the seraph appeals to me as from a driving standpoint it somewhat bridges the Bentley/ Rolls Royce gap. I’d like to spend some time with a DHC of some description though, I think I’d be more partial to the Rolls Royce experience with the wind blowing through my hair!

@@carsandcustard I can understand that. More modern cars are going to be better driving cars than those from older generations (though not really modern cars, which I now think are going backwards in terms of driver enjoyment). Whether they can waft like a Royce or Bentley of old is another matter.

Very thorough review as usual 🙂 I always thought the Silver Spirit/Turbo R was a difficult act to follow and even though this has a more modern Rover P4-esque look with better ergonomics, it's still very Alan Sugar which puts me off a little 😅

Yes it is a little bit Alan Sugar!

Sorry, purist here…and as a custodian on my tenth Bentley Turbo R - nothing replaces the six and three quarter V8. BMW and Volkswagen intervention…no thank you…..
