In 395 there weren’t standing roman legions. The standard ck3 start date is pretty much the same as the 395 start date because of stagnation period that was the dark ages. In the dark ages almost all armies relied on peasants that made up Calvary or light infantry. There probably won’t be any legions or more roman units added simply to keep the game historically accurate.

As well as this you will probably have corruption problems no matter what playing as the 2 halves of the empire because in real life the romans no longer had the resources or culture hierarchy that they had before. Towards the 1st and 2nd century the romans had more resources and good control the empire better. I’m this mod it’s better to play as one of the kings within the empire and rip it apart from the inside out. It makes for a more fun and historical game anyway. Trying to reform “Rome” in the mod barely works because that never happens in real life.

You should play it again, they've fixed and added a ton of things. I recommend playing as literally any germanic tribe as you can migrate pretty much anywhere and start a new chapter of history for the region. Just wait till rome starts crumbling (it does within 20 years thanks to the AMAZING mechanics) so pls do this mod is beutiful

This could be an entire Paradox game, or a DLC. A Crusader Kings/Imperator spin-off set in the last centuries of the Roman Empire could be cool. The mod looks great, really, although mechanics havent changed map, but eventually it will be asewome to play the Wester Roman Empire.

There was still a church on the site, Justinian rebuilt the Hagia Sophia to its current state after the older church was destroyed

Its probably just simply not removed yet. I think the Colosseum is a building in regular CK3 as well. So they maybe just didnt get around to do all that yet.

The reason Rome (Roma back then) wasn’t the capital of the Western Roman Empire by this point is because it was a mess. The amount of crime in the city was so high the city wasn’t safe for anyone. So the capital was Milan.

I believe the game you're talking about is "Imperator Rome" and no it's not bad, it just has a very low player base after the terrible launch, but now from since March after a complete overhaul to the game it is now quite playable. Unfortunately the damage had already been done and the low player base made paradox pull the plug on the game (stop development) at least possibly until 2022, and that made the player base numbers plummet, but there are some people out there trying to keep the game alive at least until paradox comes back, there's this amazing mod coming out on the 30th of June called "Imperator Invictus" that aims to fix a good amount of problems with the game and also will add a whole host of features and tries to give an authentic and historical experience. Sorry for the rambling I'm just very passionate for this game and I don't want people to think the game is bad because once you actually sit down and understand it it's actually really enjoyable. If you haven't played it yet I really do recommend it.

@@hellenicboi14 you can start as them, it’s painful though, especially if you decide to start as the independent count of Malta, luckily with a few “negotiated” marriages I was able to gain enough me to conquer the Duke of Aquila and form the kingdom of Sicily, which gave me some ability to try and reform the faith
