As a lifelong Price fan, you already had me reeled in, but these old variety shows demonstrate the (seemingly) effortless class and charm of old school show biz, even through the relatively-new-at-that-time medium of TV. (Too much singing for my tastes, but this was unavoidable on these variety shows when the hosts were chiefly singers.) I really dug the asides to the viewers and cracks about cues and other production insider jazz, showing that being “meta” began long before the turn of the millennium.
