It’s a pirate pistol for the space age. The birdshot “donut of death” will pop spacesuits without putting holes in the hull. A brace of two for boarding and then you close-in fight with swords.

These 45/410 pistol type firearms are used here in Northern Minnesota for grouse hunting. I have a Thompson Contender I inherited from my dad that works great. I can't tell you how many grouse and other game my dad took using that gun. My FFL holder just told me the other day that he has ordered several of these because he got one for himself and his buddies liked it and had him get some for them. They are especially nice when riding a four wheeler if you have a holster for it. Which apparently Taurus offers a package that includes the gun and a chest holster. Very handy.

@Jolly0331 The 000 buck handgun loads from Federal work awesome out of the Thompson Contender. I have a leather shoulder holster that I use with it. We have predators that come around because my wife keeps rabbits, chickens, ducks and some other birds. The Contender works good for that kind of stuff. I assume the Brawler would be pretty much the same. Although I wish the Contender had an ejector. That's pretty cool.

This thing is fucking cool, be neat as a truck gun. Reminds me of Archer’s rampage shotgun, but arguably more concealable. Gun would nicer probably if it was just a dedicated 410 & the birds-head grip does seem more or less mandatory. Fore-end looked neat but you can just one hand it pretty comfortably with the birds head. maybe a laser sight would be fun.

I think people miss a lot with the 410/45 pistols. My dad got a used Thompson Contender when I was very young. It came with two 45/410 barrels and a Super-14 30-30 barrel. He never really used the 30/30 barrel other than target shooting and not very often. The 45/410 was his constant companion from the first weekend in September to the last weekend of Deer season in November (here in Northern Minnesota) Roughed Grouse are what we hunt during "bird season" in the fall. He would take our 110 three wheeler and his Thompson Contender and go drive the logging roads, bird hunting every chance he got. Through out deer season he would put it in a cross drawn holster and carry it. He liked to walk and hunt. He would shoot grouse all through deer season. He called it the "meat getter". He actually shot a grouse seconds before shooting the biggest buck he ever shot. A big 9 point with 11" back tines. I have it now and I have found with Federal 3" 000 buck it would absolutely wreck someone's day. I use it for predator control because my wife keeps chickens, ducks, and turkey. So I don't think these guns are just range toys. I think people should look a little deeper into their uses and convenience.

0000 Buck engages the rifling, allowing for good patterning. I learned this testing my Circuit Judge. Also, I found some .45 Colt loads that did not seem to mind that jump to the rifling. I think...Federal soft points worked well...I think. Been a while since I did my testing, ha. I agree though in not the most practical gun. I too love dumb/cheap guns (or cheap/dumb guns) and was "first mouse" on the brawler. I pretty much agree with your assessment, they are both cool and not really good for anything. In my mind the biggest deficiency is that they aren't really strong enough for a diet of Ruger/TC only level reloads. If they could it would be a much better gun. The Contender/Encore in .45lc/.410 has been a "gun guy" gun for years, and it would be great to have another cheap alternative (CVA makes something similar, but they're pretty difficult to find in the wild)

I love that modded version, i wanna try to do that to mine now. To me the gun kinda reminds of a modern take on like a trapper pistol or mountain man pistol. I have adapters for mine to shoot stuff like 38 special, 9mm, and 22lr. But i have seen the federal triple defense 2.5 inch shells and the hornady critical defense with the 41 cal slugs work very well for me. I ended up pullin the rear sight out of mine and sight through the pic rail, painted the front sight, to use in lower light and stuff since i use mine as a woods gun alot now. Works great for snakes and other things if needed, but also not bad at all on a trap line with the 22lr adapters. Good video bud, would love to see more on it, god bless from ole Carolina.

I keep seeing all the comments about how it "should" or "needs" to be a side-by-side or over-under, or how it should be in .454 Casull, or some other pointless upgrade. And they really are pointless. I think J0lly said it best at the end, it's a cheap gun to have fun with. There are other guns that can better do the things you'd use the Brawler for. The "improvements" like two barrels or exotic calibers don't significantly improve the gun enough to justify the increased cost. Seriously, you want a single shot pistol chambered in .454 Casull, because then you could still chamber it in .45 and .410, the thing it already does? Because paying double price for cool points makes sense.
@locomike102

Dude that banter is everywhere on every gun post. "I'd buy that if it wasn't polymer" "I'd buy that if it came in 10mm" "I'd buy that if it was double barrel" No, no. No you would not. Hell, in most of the cases, the guns they're asking for already exist, they just don't know any better. That being said, the most expensive part to make on a break open gun is the reciever. Barrel length and buttstock length have very little to do with the end cost. A handgun version of a .410 shotgun should not cost more than the full size version, but there are logistics factors in the whole process that are not always easy to add up. That being said, the cheapest you'd get a double from Brazil would be if Stoeger decided to make a pistol version of its 410 coach gun, which would basically be a $500 version of Italy's Pedersoli Howdah .410. Lastly, double barrel shotguns are not just 2 barreled versions of single shots. It might be easy to explain them that way, but they are built completely differently and have about 500% more hand operations in the build process. The only doubles I can thinknof that are built like the post-sidelock singles, are the Cobray derringer-based 410 double and the blackpowder 12g Diablo. Both of those guns are a joke.

Or the Keltec Sub2000, M&P FPC, and the PIVOT could be some good 9mm options but the Rossi Brawler sounds awesome if it could shoot a bit more accurately. two barrels is more than twice the work, unless you just dont give a shit about actually fitting the barrels to shoot to the same point of aim. its also just more stuff in the mechanism to make. a double barrel version would probably cost more than twice as much

What the other guy said, actually getting 2 barrels to align properly is expensive. Probably not an issue with such a small barrel, but if your reputation as a manufacturer and your life as a consumer *need* it to work properly, then it's better to send it out the door with 1 working barrel alone rather than 1 that does and one that kinda does.

pretty fun little firearm. that shockwave handle is pretty clever lol, hope the saddle issues get worked out. i just saw Inrangetv struggle in one brutality with a shotgun shell that worked fine in another setting. Problem was the shells had absorbed enough ambient humidity and swelled up. definitely something to consider if you have to deal with poor storage conditions and cheaper ammo. Wondering if you had a similar issue or something else.

Ive actually looked at a 3d printed design, but it was setup for 20 gauge. I'd have to do a lot of work to make it a 410
@PhycoKrusk
@PhycoKrusk 2 ай бұрын
@@Jolly0331 I suppose it wouldn't be as simple as just shrinking the parts (which would still not be an insubstantial amount of work). You'd have to adjust some of the spring tensions too, since a .410 (or .45 Colt!) isn't going to eject with the same force as a 20 gauge.
@Jolly0331
@Jolly0331 2 ай бұрын
That's really true. I might print a 20 gauge one and fool around and see if it could be downsized
@PhycoKrusk
@PhycoKrusk 2 ай бұрын
@@Jolly0331 I kind of suspect the actual size is less of an issue than whether everything lines up where it needs to. 20 gauge is only 2/10ths an inch larger (bore diameter, at least) than .410, so if everything is positioned correctly that things _could_ go directly into the breach, then it might just be a matter of filling in some of the void so that the shells sit straighter in the magazine and don't move around as much, and from there you just try springs of different size and tension until you find the ones you need. That's how it is on paper, at least. All kinds of things look simple on paper.

I wonder just how strong the lockup is on this ...and how strong the judge is. The .410 length chamber and ability to use .45 colt means there is a secret third option to test remotely . The .454 casull. Now if this is as strong as a contender or encore or even the ol H&R NEF handi rifle, it should be no issue.

@Ki113r210
@Ki113r210 Ай бұрын
literally cant. 12 gauge is way over 50 caliber so you run into the NFA dance. you can only chamber "shotguns" and "firearms" in 12 gauge as a sporting cartridge, otherwise you are getting into any other weapon or destructive device nfa territory. shotguns have to be minimum 18 inch barrel, 26 inch overall, and "designed to be fired from the shoulder," the vague "firearm" tag that the mossberg shockwave/henry axe/Black aces guns occupy can have a shorter barrel but still have to be 26 inch overall length and *not* designed to be fired from the shoulder. so unfortunately you just cant have something this small in 12 gauge in the US. Taurus once tried to cheese things by chambering a revolver for 28 gauge (.55 caliber) and having a super steep forcing cone that squeezed down to .50 caliber rifled barrel, but the ATF caught on to their shenanigans and shut it down, because the gun didnt and couldnt chamber any not shotgun rounds. the 45colt/410 thing works because basically they are all 45 colt pistols that you can just "happen" to shoot 410 out of
