Everyone knows that, at Tribal Council, someone HAS to go home. But, what if everyone was immune? How would that be possible? Let's find out!

I’ve seen a lot of similar comments about a possible solution for this problem that I completely overlooked. That being that they would actually let the contestants go back to camp unscathed and then they would do a double-elimination round like how they did in Redemption Island and South Pacific. That was something that I didn’t even think of at the time, but that does seem like a logical thing for them to do. I went into the video with the assumption that whatever solution they came up with would have to be resolved at that specific Tribal Council, but the double-elimination is probably closest to what their actual plan is. I also just wanted to say thanks to everyone for engaging with the video. It really means a lot!

There is a really simple solution you missed. No one goes home. It’s like when there is a medical or non-tribal withdrawal, there is no tribal. Because it’s one person per day out. So if everyone is immune no one goes home….that day. And the next day? Double tribal. A mechanic we’ve seen plenty of times. It would make for great TV to have the tribal where no one goes home…you couldn’t rocks or clean sweep…everyone would hate that. They’d talk about the no departure tribal for years to come. But tomorrow the end result is the same, two people go home restoring the departure rate.

@@XanderMatthews-nv9zf Incorrect. Something would happen - everyone would get to go back to camp for the night and have survived another day. The goal of all the immunities has always been to get you through one more vote, make it one more day. They're not some assurance to stay in the game forever or even a few days, just one more day. So you can wake up and say "I made it to Day 22!" (or whatever) in your confessional. My solution allows for that. If their immunity was made moot because everyone was immune? That would be shit as it'd be a waste. No one would get to say "I played this idol right and made it one more day", it would be the ultimate in wasted idol play.

Plot twist: if they’re all immune, then everyone is instantly eliminated and the crew has to take over the tribe for the rest of the season. Each eliminated crew member has to go back to work. The tribe members who were eliminated in the purge now become members of the jury, no matter which stage of the game they were eliminated in.

Had everyone been immune I actually think that tribal would've been cancelled and they would've just made the next round be a double elimination cycle, either making the next reward challenge instead be the first immunity challenge or have an impromptu immunity challenge and vote at the next tribal after the first vote similar to what they did in Redemption Island/South Pacific.

I think Survivor are deathly afraid of everyone being immune at tribal council. Thats why at the 42 split tribal they only got Tori to play her shot in the dark rather than Tori and Lindsay who could have both been immune. Jonathan (Individual Immunity) Maryanne (Idol) Drea (Idol) Tori (Successful Shot In The Dark) Lindsay (2nd Successful Shot In The Dark)

Do we know if the 1/6 chance of immunity is shared? As in, there are 6 scrolls to choose from and if one player uses their shot in the dark, then the next to do it only has 5 scrolls. It's still technically a 1/6 chance and fixes the issue of multiple people landing it. Though, this doesn't really work if more than 6 players decide to do it, unless they then have another identical jar of scrolls handy.
@BanditSurvivorContent
@BanditSurvivorContent Ай бұрын
@@gadelampe it's a bag of 12 scrolls where 10 are not safe and 2 are safe. If my maths checks out Tori had a 22% chance to be safe that tribal council (remember all of Zach, Marya and Swati already tried to be safe and failed) so 2/9. Then Lindsay would go up and have a 1/8 chance to be also immune. 2/9 x 1/8 is about 3% chance for immunity so while unlikely there was a legitimate chance for everyone to be immune.

I don’t think that’s how shot in the dark works. I’m pretty sure that’s it always a 1/6 at the start of a tribal council and there is only 12 scrolls with 2 safe if there are more than 6 people at a tribal since there’s a possibility that more than 6 people try to play it

I think there needs to be a change to the way idols are played. As it currently stands, when Jeff says "If anyone has an idol and wants to play it, now is the time to do so", players can one by one come forward with their idols, and then when another player sees this, it prompts them to also play their idols (Notable examples of this are Keith Nale and Troyzan Robertson). The change I would like to see is that players are given a white stone and a black stone and all must reveal at the same time whether or not they are playing an idol, so they cannot base their decision on what someone else has done.

Actually it’s possible that as the game rules are set, they’d adhere to those rules that were set as diverting from those rules could leave a sour taste and potential rigging up in the air. What they could do and is more likely to be the case is say “congrats you’re all safe” and next episode boot 2 players in the same tribal council. This would add more suspense and a twist to the episode and could still help them stay on schedule
@LucianDevine
@LucianDevine Күн бұрын
I think that's exactly why they couldn't eliminate an immune player. Immune is supposed to be immune, not immune unless everyone is immune. I think there was a situation one season, where the smoke from a fire was blowing into one player's eyes during an immunity challenge, and he threatened to sue, off camera of course, because it was interfering with the game. The players, and thus producers agree to certain things when the contracts are signed, and I don't think the ability to eliminate an immune player is one of them.

Cool idea for a video. It is wild that this was actually a possibility. I don’t really like the idea of immunity tiers. Immunity is immunity regardless of how it was achieved. I feel like the fairest thing to do would be to let it be a non-elimination round, then in the next round still with the final seven only allow one person to win immunity from the immunity challenge instead of three lol. To keep schedule on track after the final seven vote just have them do another immunity challenge at tribal council and then go right into another vote.

Thing is, they could actually have a "noone goes home tonight, see ya!" All the idols are used up now, the dice roll is done as well. To compensate for the fact that noone left in one tribal council session, if they have a strict time schedule (e.g.: no. of episodes/recording time/time allowed on the island to do the filming/etc), they can do a "down the line" series of shorter time frames in-between immunity challenges and tribal councils (hypothetical - they do a tribal every 7 days. Instead, they do one every 5 days for a stint, catching it up over time). They'd just need to come up with one additional immunity challenge.

Interesting concept, I think there are different forms of immunity here! Winning individual immunity means you are immune and you cannot be voted for but this is not how idols work, Idols simply negate any votes you get at tribal council (same as sitd as well i guess). So after the smoke clears those who have immunity will still be safe but those who negated the votes against them will technically then be tied with 0 votes, this then leads to a revote, fire making, open discussion or rocks depending on what production decides. great vid :)

The reason someone has to go home at tribal is because they have only so many weeks of of episodes scheduled and each episode ends with a tribal and elimination. A simple sollution presents itself, why not let everyone stay, but there will be two contestants eliminated at the next tribal council, with all the immunity idols and things being played this time, it should not be possible for enough people to be immune the next time for the game to be unable to drop two contestants. At the double council we can easily resolve a number of situations. If all votes go to one candidate, that contestant is eliminated and a second vote is held to determine the other eliminee. If votes on the first vote are split the two with the most votes go home. You need a fairly unlikely three-way tie before we need a firemaking challenge to determine which contestant gets to stay. If by some unthinkable disaster where they were irresponsible enough to allow enough immunity that only one contestant can be eliminated at the following tribal council, they kick the extra elimination on to that tribe's next tribal council. Everything works out fine, the players and audience get incredible spectacle, the show still meets its production schedule, and mostly have to accomodate having one more contestant around to feed and manage for that week.

Other people already pointed out the whole non-elimination followed by double elimination (they probably keep an extra double elimination round in their back pocket for when they need to do something like this), but the way that Cirie's default elimination was handled may give away part of how it would work; it could be based on the order played. This does mean that an idol might be the *least* safe form of immunity from something like this, as you basically have to beat the other people with idols to the punch, since Shot in the Dark is played during the vote, and something like Cody's Choose Your Champion at worst would be played at the beginning of vote-reading (if not technically played before/during immunity)

It can be used two ways 1) in front of the tribe, before the vote This can allow you or an ally to use an advantage/idol before before hand. Or 2) toss it in the urn after your vote. Jeff will walk out of the voting booth with flame idol in his hands, to gauge the reaction. The first two season, we'll see the confused faces. -Your use is anonymous -no one can do anything -if someone used an idol or advantage, before the vote, they might get blamed for it, and cause trust issue. ---- The positive for someone that played their shot in the dark. If you make it through, you have shot in the dark for next tribal. You won't have to sacrifice a vote, becasue you already did. And Of course, if you're still here, they spared you from using it.

Just from a purely emotional stanpoint, the idols and such would lose a lot lf their symbolic significance if you could simply break their sacred immunity whenever it's convenient. Instead, if the schedule needs to be maintained, I think it's best to find a way to eliminate an extra person at one point. They could eliminate 2 people at the next council, or do a simple bonus elimination game, or maybe have them draw lots, but I think it has to be on another day. Now, what if 6 people played their SITD at the same TC....would 1 win & 5 lose OR could all 6 be immune? In other words, does the SITD chances apply to everyone INDIVIDUALLY...or, as I questioned above, is it done as a group? *Yes, I know the chances of 6 ALL doing SITD at the same TC are very minute, but it COULD happen. 🤔

How I understand it is that if there are 6 or few people who are eligible to be eliminated (so from Final 7 onward and on the initial starting tribes), there are 6 total scrolls, with only 1 of them being safe. Any tribal council where there are more than that (so from the Mergatory Tribal onwards, minus any split Tribals), there are now 12 scrolls, with 2 being safe. So either way, the math works out to 1/6. So, at this Final Several Round, for example, there would only be 6 scrolls.

You left out another idea: First come, first served - Anyone who entered tribal with immunity keeps it. - Once only one person is left eligible for votes, that person is eliminated. (possibly with an idol in their pocket) - Just like after votes are read, an eliminated player cannot then use their idol/advantage. (This would have to supersede any kind of super idol such as Tony's from Cagayan) - Staying in the game requires being decisive about the need to use your idol/advantage before other players can. -In most cases, idols and advantages are considered played the moment the object is handed over to Jeff since players have historically been able to hesitate or back out until parting with their idol/advantage. - If there were to be a scramble to hand idols/advantages to Jeff, the first to state their intent to use their idol/advantage wins out. (This is to prevent tribal from turning into a footrace. First to decide should win out) Example: Suppose back in Game Changers, that Cirrie also had an idol and was the last eligible for votes as happened in the game. She would be considered eliminated with an idol in her pocket the moment the third idol is played.

@jmagicd9831
@jmagicd9831 Ай бұрын
@@XanderMatthews-nv9zf Did you read the part where stating the intent to play an idol would count if it turned into a sprint? Also that would not happen unless everyone walks into tribal knowing that advantage-geddon II is about to happen. In reality, someone is probably playing their idol first, and then the next person to feel in danger plays theirs, and so on and maybe the last few people are racing to shout Jeff's name as the outcome becomes clear. I suppose those last people could just get sent to fire to avoid any controversy. The point is to reward players who read the game correctly to know they need to play something over players who don't

great video, 43 is underrated. i think a cool way they could handle this would be to go ahead and read the votes, but none would count, and then hold a revote where everyone is vulnerable including the immunity winners

I don't ever expect for this to happen in that literally everyone gets immuned. However, if it ever does happen, I'm predicting an impromptu immunity challenge that could be done at Tribal Council. Maybe it could be a trivia challenge of some kind.

This is a cool video topic! I wondered if they would say that just idols and the shot in the dark are negated, meaning Karla, Owen, and Cody would remain safe, while the other four, who all played something during tribal, become vulnerable.

Honestly, I think they’d just rig it. Sami hands Jeff his “safe” scroll (which production knows is safe), then when Jeff goes to open it, he swaps it for a “not safe” scroll behind the podium.
@cyrilmateo6865
@cyrilmateo6865 Ай бұрын
I think actually it would be first come first served, which is kinda lame but would be fair and still sticks to the elimination schedule. It's basically the tier system but the tier is based on when immunity is granted. So, the IC immunities are granted first (Karla and Owen), then the pre-vote advantage immunity (Cody), then the SITD (Sami, because it's before reading of the votes and before advantages/idols are played), and after that it's whoever gets up and plays their idols first. Say Jesse gets up first and saves himself and Gabler. Even though Karla might have had the intention to play her idol for Cassidy, she wasn't fast enough / hesitated too long and Jesse beat her to it, eliminating Cassidy. It would suck the first time especially for the person who is the most hesitant to play their idol as they may not know this would be the outcome. But afterwards, players would be more aware of this scenario and know how to take action. Then the next evolution from that would be a tied race to Jeff - what if the last two unimmune players get to Jeff around the same time? Then it may come down to a kind of talk, or maybe even a plea deal with Jeff, or their advantages/idols cannot be played because it results in a stalemate, so they keep their advantages/idols, but now everyone knows, and yet they are still vulnerable to be voted out. Anyway there's always a chance at the beginning for everyone to be immune at a TC - if everyone plays SITD and miraculously becomes immune.

My gut tells me they would essentially restart tribal council. Whoever won the necklace gets to keep it, but the idols and advantages played no longer work. They technically negated the first round of votes, but they don't carry over to the revote. Unlike a normal revote, it doesn't matter who any of the previous votes were for, everyone just votes again as if the first vote never happened and the idols were simply thrown into the fire.

I would have everyone immune. The next day Jeff comes down to camp to talk to everyone about what happened the night before and they’re trying to decide what to do. He plants the seed that the possibility of a double elimination is in consideration making the immunity challenge so much more important. Everyone is worried about the double elimination and make their plans and such. At tribal council, everyone does their vote and someone gets eliminated. After the elimination, Jeff tells everyone that the producers decided not to do a double elimination tonight and everyone is sent back to camp. Everyone sighs a breath of relief etc. Then when they do tribal council, everyone votes and the person who gets voted out has their flame extinguished but Jeff then says to them to have a seat with the jury cause someone else is getting voted off. Would flip the script in a lot of ways and might get the contestants lulled into a false sense of safety plus it would make for excellent tv.
