As a former bagpiper myself, the cadence pipebands typically use is a slower pace and more difficult for regular soldiers to march to, they are often train/march at a faster pace. So they are actually doing well here.
@ivankostamo9698 Жыл бұрын
@@pacificprospector This is quite true! The difference between 116-120 and 90-100 bpm makes all the difference. I was in the Air Cadets until recently, and it was near impossible to keep anyone who isn't used to pipe marches in step, let alone the 3/4s. But yes, they are doing quite well, and their best when it's more cluttered.

+Soviet “mr” Trollzz inaccurate. First of all, yes they are her majesties soldiers - however, as pointed out, since Magna Carta 800 years ago the crown draws it's sovereignty and legitimacy from the people themselves. This guarantees the rights, and liberties of all subjects of Britain (and by extension her former colonies). Secondly, the crown and the government are two entirely separate institutions and as states the military owes it's allegiance to the crown (which is bound to the people) therefor making it impossible for the Government to oppress, subjugate or otherwise employ force on it's citizens as a means of coercion. Also, under article 61 of the Magna Carta: should any party i.e parliament or the crown infringe on the rights of the people their legitimacy is void and we move to what is called 'lawful rebellion' where the barons (and the people) wage war on the party in question until redress is delivered. What you claim equates to tyranny is actually what prevents it.

Uh, nope. I was there, in 1 RCR in 1983 during the Regimental Centennial In London, ON when those scarlets were issued. Now, since I was in Charles Coy, 8 Pl, AKA The Corps of Drums, we had been wearing scarlets since forever and had them fitted so we looked sharp. The rest of the battalion however just got issued the closest size that fit and they looked like a bag of hammers. And those silly plastic Wolseley helmets did not look much better. I see that the Regiment still won't spring for a proper tailor or two. The CF uniform at that time did look sharp, what with the trousers bloused into the SSF jump boots and the SSF shoulder badge. Don't even get me started on dragging the left foot on the halt. If the RSM had seen that in my day... Man! Extra duties for everybody!

True, I identified the 7th Toronto Regiment, RCA (easy when they're helpfully towing an artillery piece in the parade), the Lorne Scots, the Toronto Scottish, the 48th Highlanders, and the Queen's Own Rifles at various points in the footage. I assume it was the 4th Battalion of the RCR getting new colours, but aside from them the majority of the participants seem to have been Toronto-area units.

Judging from their size, probably the "Heavy" artillery. Viewers should bear in mind that these are Militia units, made up of volunteers and high school students. I give them a LOT of credit, even though they can't march like Regular Force troops. In the US even Active service don't parade, and don't know the "meaning" of the word. The National Guard, which are highly trained reservists, in the Canadian sense, probably don't bother with drill much, but know what they are doing. When they DO march, they don't TRY to stay in step too much, and doesn't look THAT bad. But the Canadians.... every other man trying to do a drill movement to change step, looks awkward at best. Perhaps LESS effort might be better. This is not a criticism. I served in a Militia unit ( British Columbia Regiment, 15th Field Artillery) the regular force ( 1 Airborne Signals, 2Bn Queens Own Rifles), and the US ( USAF , captain), Search and rescue, and New Jersey State Guard. I have served from 1957 ( 13) to 2007 ( 66 Years old). I am retired US Homeland Security. ( Canadian Service counted to retirement.) I also wonder why Canada went to Scarlet. This was unheard of when I was in. The new flag came out, and the Scarlet went on. I am an Englishman, ancestors Coldstream Guards , RFC and RAF, so the Scarlet means something..... the Canadian cut is off, way too long, almost a greatcoat. Wear a CANADIAN uniform. Reclaim the RCMP Stetson, which started as Canadian Army in ww1, and the RCMP cut is terrific. Let the Brits wear the busbies and pith helmets. Your Canadian. be proud of it. sk101810 Clarkson, RD my unit is here at "1957 QOR" this is how MEN march .

Richard Clarkson. I think the fact that Canadian troops have wore scarlet since 1757 might be reason to keep wearing it..... About the "busbies", The fur wedge cap was used by both the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP), later Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), with the first examples coming into service in 1876 until 1901 and then again from 1928 until 1935.

Most ceremonial dress is red going back to the military history of the 1800s and sometimes earlier. Some units wear green as rifle regiments. Formal dress uniforms are usually green for the army. Should note some of these regiments trace themselves back to the American Revolution(Butlers Ranger) or the War of 1812. Canadian regulars (fencible militia) typically war red or green.

I wasn't trying to disrespect Canada, I see other country's on you tube showing its military gear and.. Well Canada's military parades aren't very impressive at all. I have friends currently in the military and I do have great respect for those who sign up to join and fight for Canadians rights. Sad part is our military has been in some questionable conflicts the last few years!! That's an entirely different debate. I think the Canadian government should step up to the plate and give more funding to all our military!! Especially our navy!!

BULLOCK1973 Canada's military doesn't stand for the same concerns as Russia or China. We march to show our unity and compassion, not weaponry or to intimidate.

Hey buddy canadian soldiers fought like no one could during both world wars . This is not an opinion but an undeniable fact . Read books . They always were far more than simple parade soldiers.
