Good Video! I bought the Scram 411 last year as my first bike and I love it. Obviously I wouldn't mind if the bike had a little bit more power, but it can reach highway speeds and that's ultimately enough for me. I bought the Scram for the look, the prize, the reliability and I'm very happy with it. Perfect bike for a short commute and some longer (offroad) trips on the weekend. PS: The tripper navigation is the only thing that doesn't work at all, I can connect it and after 5 Minutes it starts to search for the bluetooth connection and turns off

Hey Celty, thanks for you kind words! Here's a fun fact: I don't actually write a script for my videos. My brain is just wired this way, and I just wing it any time I start recording. The magic happens in the editing studio (aka my bedroom desk and laptop) where I cut everything down for these reviews. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and I was able to capture your attention. More to come! I'll see you around. 😎

I bought this bike although I had seen many reviews regarding the power of this bike. I live in a hilly area, where it is very diificult to do even 100kms/hour. So I am happy at the full speed of 120 Kms/hour. Considering that,' this is an extremely awesome bike.

This bike at the very top of the value list and does an great job both on and off road. Excellent for commuting, comfortably cruising at 70 mph. It’s only 400 cc so criticizing it for not being fast/punchy is like criticizing the Honda CBR 600 for not handling well off road. It’s simply not designed for that.

Hey Danny, great input. I hope you don’t think I’m criticizing the bike - Just simply pointing out the facts about the bike not being fast or built for performance. It is a fun little package for the value it brings to the table.

Msrp on this bike is approx $5100. If you buy the scram from a harley - they're charging $1000+ over msrp. I discovered this fact in Oregon. Look for a dealer other than harley and you'll save that money. Good luck..

I think the US has a lot of long straight roads where as the UK has plenty of narrow country roads with tight twisties and that’s where this bike feels comfortable, good vid thanks

Absolutely! The UK would be an awesome place for the Scram. All US roadways definitely were not made for it, but a city with dense traffic and tight spaces would be a great place for the Scram to thrive and be an urban exploration motorcycle.

I test rode this bike and really enjoyed it. its smooth comfortable easy to ride and just a total blast. it would make a fantastic first bike for someone. however. it is absolutely begging for more power. wouldn't make a good 2nd bike as your going to want more oomph out of it. this bike has adequate power to get you around and just cruise with but if you have the slightest bit of a speed demon in you I would aim for another bike.

Awesome shadowman Ian! Ahh, the big little RE. I think I’d prefer the 650Twin Interceptor personally. Congratulations on getting the subs! You so deserve it definitely. You’re a legendary funny bloke & a top salesman 😉 Anyone that goes about wanting to wheelie a test motorcycle is a true legend ⭐️. I noticed you added subtitles. Great stuff but you speak English anyway. The only suggestion I would offer is Metric numbers when mentioning HP, Torque, seat height & tank volume figures. Other than that, always a pleasure seeing you do your magic 🙌
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, thanks for the suggestions and always showing out for the new videos! I was in shock at how slow the Scram actually was. The Interceptor or Continental 650 twin is the way to go; they oughta find a way to stuff it into the Himalayan platform. I actually auto-generated these subtitles, and they were more pain to go back and edit than if I had let the YT algo just auto-caption them, so won't be doing that in the future. I definitely should be putting more HP, torque, and measurements in metric units as well for the viewers over seas. Over here in the USA we're different because.. Well, no one is really sure actually - we're just difficult for sake of being difficult I guess. 😂

We as Americans are ignorant when it comes to bikes. We are spoiled. Everything isn't about speed and power. We already say budget it cheap. Lol. That's where the ignorance kicks in. We need to understand where this bike comes from. A totally different lifestyle. Re's aren't av bikes. They are utilitarian / commuter bikes aka so it all bikes. We tend to compare bikes on the opposite spectrum to one another trying to sound intelligent. These bikes are sold nearly world wide than most bikes out there. Review the bike on its own merits.

I commute with this bike everyday and it's fantastic for it, not sure if you were saying it wasn't good for this due to the speed you were going? My commute is on a highway with speed limits of 55-65mph. If you're on an interstate or faster road going 70+ that's where it becomes uncomfortable for sure, but then again, I don't enjoy that kind of riding. All the commuters I know on bikes prefer the slower highways anyway. *shrug*

Hey, thanks for your comment! I’m 6’1 and I found the bike easy to move around on, but shifting your whole body back would be pretty difficult because of the shape of the seat. If I was any taller the seat probably would be pushing into my lower back and would make for an uncomfortable ride.

This bike is basically a stripped down Himalayan with a new engine map. I think you're selling the bike short by saying it's only cabable of light trails though which simply isn't the case. This platform has been tested and ridden for years on some of the toughest off the beat pathes and roads in ruaral India. Sure it's not going to be as cabable as a CRF300 Rally offroad but it's way more cabable then some of the listed "Scrambler's" from the big 4 that are basically just street bikes with nobbies on them. The bike's built like a tank and has been battle tested and is the only bike on the market that I know of that's listed as a Scrambler that actually comes from an ADV platform. The bike in my opinion is marketed as a street bike but is a jack of all trades. It's adequate on the highway you just have to stay in the left lane lol and heavy enough not to get completely blown around unlike most of the light weight dual sports. Ovrerall I think your review pretty much nailed it the only thing I didn't agree with was the bike not having the chops offroad as it's very cabable in the dirt.

Hey, I appreciate the detailed write-up and feedback! I don't always nail the bikes I review, but it's good to hear I got most of it right. It can definitely be a capable trail bike based on the capability of the Himalayan, so I should have given it more grace for off-road scenarios. I think the biggest reason I dissed it for that was its underwhelming output figures. Output numbers closer to 30 lb-ft-tq and 40ish HP would definitely have swayed my opinion while filming this video. It sounds like there could potentially be some interesting updates being brought to the Himalayan platform. Hopefully, I get to revisit this model in the future if those updates come to fruition! Thanks for watching and ride safe. 😎

@@Omni_Moto Yeah more power and torque would definitely be a benifit in some areas for sure I'm definitly not saying the bike's perfect. But then again you have to look at it's very low cost at the end of the day somthing you did mention in your video. At the end of the day it's not a bike for everyone but then again what bike is really. The best way I can describe this bike is if a 1980's Land Rover Defender was a motorcycle lol. Overall I enjoyed your video you ride safe as well keep up the good work!

I can't fathom why RE only pulls out 24.3hp from a 411cc single cylinder with a 0.9 bore/stroke ratio.. I know that it is not a short stroke water cooled unit,, but still less than one horse pr cubic inch.. (411cc = 25.1 cubic inch) ,, TEC parts in the UK made a new camshaft after a lot of research and trials and just a camshaft shift gave 15% more power.. (both torque and horsepower) ,, so up to roughly 28hp from the stock 24.3hp.. And a little more free flow of air they could just above 29hp.. It is the same story with the Meteor.. Also less than a horse pr cubic inch.. 20.2hp from 349cc.. but a new camshaft has been designed to unlock the power at higher revs.. If you could increase power by 16% more power on that bike would give you 23.4hp.. Still a slow bike but a bit more pep for overtakes.
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto Жыл бұрын
I think it has to do with EPA and Euro 5 emission guidelines. Also, producing more heavy-duty components like camshafts is more costly, which digs into profit margins, and that means they have to raise prices, which would possibly cause more of a fuss than it would be worth. On the other hand, they could attract a larger audience if the bike was more engine performance-oriented. I think for what it is and what they designed it for, it does, well, just okay. It could do a whole lot better if they took more risk and spent more R&D to get a punchier power plant, but I don't see it happening this year. Maybe in 2024. Cheers! Ride safe.
