Great review. I have a set of these (along with the Sabian Quiet Tone’s) & they’re a game changer! The ability to alter the tension is what separates these from the other practice systems. I have my rack tom tighter than my floor which is what the actual heads are. So the feel is the same as well as the tone. And they last a REALLY long time. The mesh is very thick & durable and that center patch just goes the distance. Worth. Every. Penny.

I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the kick drum pad. Aside from the bungee hooks, your pedal clamps onto a metal plate that fits under your kick. It’s not the most secure system, but works well enough. I got a set of these to replace the Sound Off rubber pads I had. These are night and day. Very responsive and really durable. Worth every penny of your investment.

Do you have any videos of you playing drums when you were like a kid or a teenager. If so I think it would be a cool video to see how much you’ve progressed on drums.

Tiago Drumming Thanks, Tiago! Actually, I've not. I was hoping for something like black hole that I could use with my current setup. I've tried laying a thin layer of rubber on them (like commercial silencers) but they badly stained my cymbals.

+James Edwards A lot of companies have different cymbal mutes. I know bates has some for sure if you are just looking for something to go over your existing cymbals.

Drum Beats Online Thanks, Gabe! I'll check 'em out. I guess I assumed they were all like Evans sound off (which discolor my cymbals...BIG deterrent!). Thanks also for your great vids to help drummers get better!

does it shorten up the beater travel of the bass drum pedal because this just goes over the rims. I would think that would mess with your bass drum playing

This was useful. I've been looking for ways to mute my kit because i live in a college dorm with 3 other people. Is there something i can do to my kick drum so that the vibrations don't bother the people downstairs?
@DrumBeatsOnline7 жыл бұрын
+Atheon, Time's Conflux I'd try out the black hole size for the kick drum! Should remove the vibrations as well.

Where did you get that price from? I have not been able to find it for less than 300 bucks. The bass drum pad alone costs around 120.

And i have tried to find it in american online shops, even through i live in Europe, but even there are the prices that high when i try to check the American distributors that Rtom has on there website

Great review Gabe! I was thinking about buying the Rtom kick drum to set it up in my bedroom.... I´m tired of playing with my Roland Td-4 Electronic kit, the Roland plastic kick drum, i feel like is messing with my bass drum technique.... What´s your thoughts about the kick drum rebound, did you find the RTom Kick to be realistic and not super bouncy because of the Mesh Head? I´m really considering investing in this but it is soo expensive that i really must evaluate if it´s worth or not the investment :) ... I need to better my bass drum technique , i bought the Aquarian Super pad for the snare and it´s doing wonders for my snare technique, currently looking for the same on my bass drum... If you could help with your opinion it would be much appreciated. And sorry for the long comment, lol! :)
@DrumBeatsOnline7 жыл бұрын
+Tiago Drumming These are all great things to consider! I'd say out of the box you are going to get a little more rebound out of the kick head than you normally would. But you can loosen the tension on the mesh head to get less rebound if you'd like. So that could be a good option!
@TiagoDrumming7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the reply Gabe! I think i´m going to invest in the Rtom... Keep up with the great videos! They help alot! :)

Tiago Drumming just wondering if you bought the RTom for your bass drum, how did you get on, and do you think they would be good on tom and snare too compared the superpads. I'm planning to sell my TD25kV but want the most realistic feel as possible (without the noise)👍🏽

@Rhythmic16 жыл бұрын
The bass drum pad does not work well at all. The tom and snare pads work great. The bass drum pad doesn't fit right and doesn't allow the bass drum pedal to directly attach to the bass drum. The bass drum pedal attaches to a metal plate they supply you that rests underneath the bass drum which forces you to readjust the bass drum and pedal constantly under hard playing. Buy the tom and snare pads but buy a different manufacturers bass drum pad.
