Thanks for helping me check off a bucket list trip Casey! For anyone wanting to tackle this in a Gladiator I highly recommend 37s for diff clearance and high quality rock sliders because you will definitely be using them. Aside from that take your time on obstacles and have a good spotter. I made it through with basically zero damage.

The TJ Rubicon was designed to do the Rubicon trail stock with a straight 6 and locker dana 44s. Everything after 2006 is a Mexican FIAT with a V6 that kept the axles and name.
@Foof507 ай бұрын
And yet not one TJ is on the trail with you. No straight 6s at all. Sad, very sad

Did this trail in a 2016 Rubicon Unlimited with 35s and no undercarriage armor. Came out with slight damage and drove it home. It was a blast and beautiful. Definitely recommend manual sway bar disconnects. You get better flex and keep tires on the ground more. The worst damage for me was a bent tie rod bar and smashed the shock.
@scottlester651010 ай бұрын
Do you think you would have made it through with 33s? I've got the same setup but on 33s.
@paulthurman132110 ай бұрын
@scottlester6510 yes, there are plenty of 'drive around' options. Just don't do the trail alone. Our group had a TJ with no lockers and on 31s that made it through. (although be-it with damage)

This is my backyard trail. I live a short drive to MetalCloak and about 1hr 15mins from Loon Lake trailhead. We also use Wentworth Springs entrance as there is some fun stuff over there. '21 JT Rubi diesel, 37s, all Metalcloak links and steering w/ Evo 6" springs. We run it weekdays in the summer to "help" avoid the weekend craziness.

From what I’ve seen.. and know from personal experience.. the JL stock 44s (especially the HD 44s that come on the Extreme recon) can handle 40s pretty well. Your main weak point is the ring and pinion cause they’re so small if you gear it correctly. Awesome video

I am on my second glacier cooler and its about to be returned as well. They will not run on the 12volt outlet on my jeep. they seem to only work on AC power. The second one they sent me was refurbished and the compressor is banging against the walls.
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
Ouch, sorry to hear. I know they had some issues with the earlier ones pumps, I had the pre release one I had replaced but since then its been good. I've also had other fridges like Dometic fail so its just how it goes banging around things with moving parts.

Hey @Casey250 Great trip! What brand is that rear bumper with tire swing arm? Thanks!
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
it is made by Warn, however I do have some complaints about it I may talk about in a future video such as its weight, the license plate hits the body, the swing out hits your hand etc. But to be fair its been on 3+ years and been torture tested all along the way lol
@alexkaa635110 ай бұрын
@@Casey250 Hm, I see. Thanks for your feedback. I am shopping for a swing tire carrier now as my current 38" Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS is too heavy even with hinges reinforcement. So far, I have narrowed it down to Lodoffroad JL Destroyer Full-Width Rear Bumper w/ Tire Carrier. I guess that would be it as I don't see a better option. Cheers from a fellow off-roader and Vancouverite.
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
I'd get the Teraflex tire carrier hands down. Then a bumper of your choice.

This is supposed to be a video to show what a “non hard-core” run on the Rubicon is like? But you and all your friends are running at least 35’s and are mostly on 37’s and 40’s. That, by any definition is “hard core” because in order to run those size tires, you have to trash the entire factory drivetrain and suspension and replace it with a very expensive and upgraded drivetrain and suspension or you are in for a very “not fun” experience on the Rubicon, or any off-roading for that matter.
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
You can literally buy a new Jeep with 35s from the factory... And swap 37s on with no mods other than trimming the fenders...
@glenngore660910 ай бұрын
@@Casey250Yes you can and the Rubicon would tear that suspensionto shreds. Been there, done that. That’s why the Epic boys are always shown ripping the suspension out from under all their Jeeps when they are equipping them with 35’s or above. Even another poster in here said he received damage when he tried to run the Rubicon on 35’s. Was his suspension stick? He didn’t say
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
You can have some mods on your Neep and not be a hardcore wheeler. I've met countless people that have bought a new rig at WRD and are just getting into wheeling. Just because you have a lift and tires doesn't turn you into a rock crawling super star. Maybe this video isn't for the heavily experienced crowd but there are a lot more new wheelers out there with stock or modified rigs that I wanted to aim this video out.
