Why do doctors put up with nasty, sarcastic receptionist, I had a doctor tell me he does not know what goes on in his office and other rooms. I was surprised he was so honest in saying that, there must be accountability for the patients in the doctors office…

The doctors staff reflect HIS attitude and disrespect for individuals. The front desk personnel at a previous doctor’s office were toxic! Two women who had a ‘thing going’! They were abrupt, rude, inattentive to patients. No one has to kiss my foot, but I do expect courtesy! I changed to another primary care provider and guess what…? My blood pressure went down and I no longer need medication. Take care of yourselves.❤❤

They don't! I've been on both sides of the coin. You have to tell them about it and let them know it's not a good look for their practice! I had taken my son for a checkup when he was a baby. It was a very busy pediatric practice. A nurse had taken a call from a worried mother about her sick child. By the time the doctor knew about it, it had been several minutes and the mother was distraught. He chewed that nurse out. He said NEVER leave a parent on hold like that again! So, they need for the patients to tell them!

I've met way too many people like this woman when I was working for the police. You laugh at this but having to deal with someone like this is like hugging a cactus. Where the hell was Sam when I needed her?

Same ! I tell everyone that you must have to get a certificate in bad manners and rudeness to be employed at a doctors office.

A lot of receptionists are from the hood where being that way is normalized so their "certificate" is basically their birth certificate.

My aunt was a medical receptionist back in the 70s. I don’t think she ever smiled in her whole life. Plus she was pretty rude to everyone. She came to the house one Thanksgiving and everyone hated her.

Welcome to Canadian healthcare! In reality our Medical secretaries are actually worse than this. Plus they always use the same excuse “ it’s the medical system “. Medical system doesn’t say to be a condescending unhelpful person to patients who are trying to arrange appointments around a busy schedule.

I laughed out loud so many times during this episode 🖤
Encountered this type when walking in to our Dr’s office. I decided to go in and speak to someone since my husband’s meds weren’t called in properly before a holiday weekend. Long story short, the receptionist said I was making her uncomfortable…. I never raised my voice, used profanity or caused her harm. She stopped in mid sentence and said, I’m going to ask you to leave. I said, no, I will not be leaving. She said, I’m calling the cops! I responded, ok. I will be waiting over here. No police came, and before the holiday weekend, my husbands medication was called in correctly to pharmacy.😢

1:24 It would be at this point where I would loudly wail in front of everyone in the waiting room saying I can't do the 29th because it's my daughters funeral which is why I can't clear my voice mail of my daughter which is also the reason the hospital couldn't contact me. This would embarrass the crap out of the receptionist and then I would slightly lean in and tell her it was all a lie and the daughter is alive and happy on a honeymoon, but if the receptionist tried to tell anyone, no one would believe her.

I actually think my doctor got rid of her nasty receptionist, I dreaded calling to make any appointment. I haven’t seen her in quite awhile and I hope I never do again!!

Hmm patients, consumers and customers should be accommodated but because patients need doctors more than doctors 'need' patients this is what happens...

"so you're not putting us behind"?! As if the doc is ever on time even when you do show up 15 mins early. You could show up 30 mins early and they wouldn't be.

Patients are stressed and/or not feeling well or scared and as such are not their normal selves. This is why it is imperative to be extra kind and understanding. You have no idea how much every kindness helps. If course, that's not to say that some people are just generally rude all of the time, but that's not the majority, so receptionist's please be nice!!!!
